Yup, I bet the Y made him an offer he could not refuse. In a sense it would be a relief to walk into a police station.

construction company + japan + guns = ya......

He was probably a pick up man. A sort of middle man between smugglers and clients. His Nationality is expected, because the Philippines have extensive illegal and legal arms manufacturers; sometimes entire towns churning out handmade counterfeit guns.

The yak are also known to send out troublesome members/mules on “suicide missions” to frame them.

The word 'patsy' springs to mind. What's the bet he was holding them for his boss, who is also a Yak. This is why he is remaining quiet about it. The Yaks will do far worse to him if he blabs than the cops will do if he remains silent. I love the way the article plugs the Filipino point. These guns belong to a Japanese crime syndicate member. Ask yourself, how would a 29 year old Filipino construction worker get ahold of so many automatic weapons in Japan? And, why would he have them at all? He's the 'keeper' and the 'patsy'.

I saw the word "automatic". That means machine gun, like Hollywood spray bullets everywhere kind of gun. Even these are dang near impossible to get in the US.

Turned himself in for what ? The story is a big confusing.

Perhaps when followup reports are published it will be explained. In the meantime, a possibly way shouldn't be too hard to imagine for any non-Japanese who has been fingerprinted for their alien registration card or at an immigration entry point in Japan.

Right and everything else you wrote afterwards is an assumption about what may have happened. However you fail to take into account that the guy turned himself in.....so everything you wrote is moot!

I’ll take a guess, he was turning in information about weapons left in a suit case to frame him

There is a hell of a lot more to this story, and while it's the system here, sure the cops arrested the guy, AFTER he turned himself in.

He was arrested for allegedly possessing one of the guns found inside suitcases at the construction company dormitory room.

Just how do the cops know he was in possession of one of the guns from inside the suitcase? And if he was "arrested" for that reason why did he turn himself in?

There is a hell of a lot missing in details! Rush to put out sensationalism, but never a rush for accuracy!
