A 51-year-old restaurant employee was arrested Wednesday over a hit-and-run accident on Aoyama-dori that resulted in the death of a 40-year-old man in December.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Nobu Arikawa, hit a man crossing Aoyama-dori in Tokyo's Minato Ward in the early hours of Dec 27. Police allege that after fleeing the scene, Arikawa rented a parking spot over 15 kilometers from his home, removed part of the broken windshield and the bumper of the car, and then abandoned it there.
Arikawa has admitted to the charges, saying, "I realized I had hit someone, but ran because I was afraid. I knew the police would catch up to me sooner or later."

okay so you do a hit and run then take of the bumper to i dunno try to get rid of evidence then you leave your car behind and run. That doesn't make any sense at all. Why even take off the bumper?
