Police in Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture, have arrested a 30-year-old man after he dragged a police officer hanging onto his car for about 30 meters.

According to police, Ryo Yoshinaga, who works as a company truck driver, was stopped by a police officer on patrol after he was driving his car in reverse along a one-way street in Kurume at around 2 a.m. on July 31, Kyodo News reported.

While he was being questioned by the officer, Yoshinaga abruptly accelerated the vehicle and dragged the officer, who was holding onto the driver’s door, for about 30 meters along the street. The officer suffered bruises to his wrists and buttocks.

Following his arrest, Yoshinaga was quoted by police as saying he “was frustrated for being stopped by the police.” He has been charged with obstructing a police officer in the performance of his duty.
