A 63-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of robbing a post office in Tokyo.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Kenji Takai, entered the post office in Hamura at about 9:40 a.m. He threatened a female worker behind the counter with a toy gun and demanded money, NTV reported. After she handed over 110,000 yen in cash, Takai left the post office.
He was pursued by a male employee and a pedestrian and they caught up with him about 40 meters away, police said.

Desperation gone wrong...
On a side note, what's with Hamura and their post offices getting robbed? I think I hear of one at least once a year!

These stories, of the ageing and elderly committing such crimes out of desperation as Ms Alexander says. After all, what else can they do? They're screwed, they have no future to look forward to, and when you have no money, and the govt. won't help you and possibly even buggered up your pension, where can you go but prison? How down and outs are treated in Japan is a disgrace.

A case of somebody gone postal.

Yeah 63 is not the best age to be trying to make your getaway on foot..

Obviously his actions are a result of these trying times.

He probably just wants a roof over his head, and three hot meals every day. And perhaps some company. All paid by you, me and every other tax-payer.

Wait is this the guy from a while back in a previous article. I hope so. Then that case will be closed.
