Police in Kobe on Wednesday arrested a 51-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he stabbed his 15-year-old son with a fork at their home.

According to police, Hiroyuki Matsushima, a company employee, has admitted stabbing his son but denied intent to kill.

Police said the incident occurred at Matsushima’s home in Nishi Ward at around 4:20 p.m. on July 21. Matsushima was quoted by police as saying he and his son were in the living room when they got into an argument about his school work. Matsushima told police he lost his temper and grabbed a fork that was in front of him.

Matsushima stabbed his son on the left side of his chest, going deep enough to reach the boy’s lung. He was taken to hospital where doctors said his injury will take about a month to heal.

The hospital contacted a child welfare center after seeing the boy’s wound and the center contacted police.

Matsushima lives with his wife and son. Police said his wife was home at the time of the attack.

I can understand the situation but using a physical implement to attack another is out of line - but perhaps we're missing part of the Story.... (If my own Son attacked me with a knife, and I defended myself with a fork and harmed him in the process, I'd probably still tell the Police that he wasn't at fault in order to keep his record clean for future life... that is, what any other Parent would do - protect their Kids for the sake of their Future - unless of course he was "Psycho", and totally unmanageable ).

Some Teenage boys are really, unbelievably wildly volatile (for you US Democrats, imagine a teenage Trump on Steroids!). The Parents need not necessarily be the blame - sometimes, it's just something as simple as inherited genes (ADHD, etc). And yes, Kids can be violent! (Sometimes very much so). For those of you who say being nice all the time brings niceness, I have to say, you're really lucky if that's your experience. Some from the nicest Families can churn out the nastiest of Persons, and vice-versa.

Parenting... is trying to make the best of what you have, and trying to give better than you had in some ways, even if not in all ways. There is no, one set rule book that fits all Parents' situations, other than to try and do your best, for your Kids and help them be better than you. That latter statement is the reason why Mankind moves "forward" rather than stagnates in the same position. The flip side of this, is too much pressure upon Kids to do just that... which can lead to a negative situation.

There it is! This is a perfect example of the idiocy surrounding ridiculous expectations of teenagers and their schoolwork.

Matsushima stabbed his son on the left side of his chest, going deep enough to reach the boy’s lung.

Well, now his psycho father is forked! This is another mental health issue of people who have no control over their emotions and just snap. Stabbing your kid over schoolwork is complete lunacy!

Stick a fork in this dad. He's done.

Stabbing deep enough to reach an adolescent boy's lung with a fork? John Wick would be proud. Kidding aside, there are a select group of angry people who will attack with whatever is at hand and these are probably the more dangerous angry people types since they get blinded by anger quite easily.

I bet this isn't the first time he's been violent.

"Matsushima lives with his wife and son."

Hopefully this is supposed to be past tense...lived.

Chapter 9 from the idiot's Guide to Parenting. Encourage better performance at school by giving your children a collapsed lung. As an added benefit, it will build a stronger relationship between you and your children.
