Police in Taiwa, Miyagi Prefecture, on Monday arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of physically abusing his two-year-old daughter.

According to police, Yumi Sugawara, a demolition worker, kicked a table against his daughter’s head at their home at around 8:50 a.m. Sunday, Sankei Shimbun reported. The child suffered bruises to her head but her injuries are not life-threatening, police said.

Police said Sugawara’s wife called 110 after the incident to report that he was out of control. When police arrived, they found Sugawara in an intoxicated  state.

Poor little girl. I am amazed how, intoxicated or not, these so-called men who abuse kids always take out their, anger, frustration, whatever on a child. Why don't they go out to the streets and find somebody their size to fight?

let me guess, the husband is gonna say "I was drunk and couldn't remember." While we know that domestic violence will rise due to the quarantine, but that doesn't mean we should tolerate it, good on the wife who called the authorities. Give this guy a room behind bars and make sure he stays dry for the rest of his life.

Don't mess this up, CPS.

" kicked a table against his daughter’s head"

real plantation action.

Another cowardly scumbag. Lock this child-abuser trash up for a long time and prevent him from ever contacting the poor girl.

Good on the wife for dobbing him in. Now, she needs to kick the drunken bum out of the house and file for divorce.

A child's skull isn't fully developed at that age yet. This could cause that little girl some brain damage.

Yes, put that irresponsible violent idiot away!

If you have a violent side when you drink, why do you drink at home with a baby in your presence? Lock yourself in a room and do everyone else a favor by drinking alone! Or just don't drink at home, you knobber!

Good for the mother to call the police.

Without knowing any details, maybe she might consider divorce too.

Hitting a 2-year old is just inexcusable.

Hmm... Hold on here for a minute.

The Guy may not be bad, but just having issues handling a very stressful situation more-so whilst not being sober. We don't have the full circumstances of this matter to hand here in the Story, so drawing conclusions one way or another isn't going to be very constructive.

Clearly, causing injury to a child is not great - but it may have been a spur of the moment issue, not helped much by his lack of sobriety. He may otherwise have been the most loving Father on this Planet, for all we know.

If however, he had a track record of abuse, then that would have been another issue. Otherwise, I hope, for all their sakes, that he is given an, off-the-record Warning in this case, but should another incident arise, then its no longer a warning case and could result in a Criminal record.

Note... a Criminal record impacts your ability to Work, so having one, means you are limited in what you can do, to support your Family. Maybe his Wife was trying to warn him, or maybe she was seeking help ? There's simply not enough information here to make any informed opinion, other than to be sorry for the Young Girl who was harmed.
