Man arrested for abusing 3-month-old daughter because she wouldn’t stop crying

Police in Kamagaya, Chiba Prefecture, on Saturday arrested an unemployed 30-year-old man on suspicion of beating his three-month-old daughter at their home.

According to police, Hiroki Jinda has admitted to the charge and said he beat his daughter at around 12:10 a.m. on Thursday because she wouldn’t stop crying and it got on his nerves, Fuji TV reported. Jinda told police he held his daughter by her toes and hit her stomach and left thigh.

Jinda’s wife, who was working part-time, noticed her daughter’s condition when she returned home and they took her to the hospital. Doctors noticed several bruises on her body. The child also had cracked ribs. The hospital then contacted police about a case of possible child abuse.

These types of stories are becoming more and more common.

if you are not capable of taking care of children maybe you should not have them.

It is incomprehensible to me how someone can do this to a child. I remember when one of my kids was young we went through a short period where she would get anxious at night and this would lead to her acting out and crying. I remember my frustration level and anxiety being taken to the extreme (yes it can "get on one's nerves") but I never could imagine doing what this guy did. She is only 3 months old....poor child...

I think creatures like this should be sterilized, to eliminate any chance of them having another child to abuse.

I'm surprised he didn't use the excuse that he was drunk! Yeah, I doubt it would happen, but jail-time should be a must here. One should not be able to get away with such a horrible crime. I wonder. Does anyone know if this usually ends up with suspended sentences and the like?

Babies eat/drink/suck, poo, and cry. That's their job. Did this idiot seriously not know that? Needs to be held upside down by his toes for a while so he can learn to empathize with a 3-month old.

So terribly sad. Poor defenseless baby girl beaten by her own father who should have been the one to comfort and protect her.

As a dad of six I've found that at three months old, if mum has been away for several hours, as it seems she was in this case, the baby can often get very upset. The poor baby might have just been craving her mum. Often they refuse the bottle and just want mummy and will cry until she returns. It can be very trying for a father in that situation. (Still not an excuse for his reaction)

Educating young couples to this and other aspects of parenting newborns and toddlers will help greatly to avoid pressure cooker situations like it seems this was.

I have a video on one of my very old cell phones of my now 11 year old granddaughter screaming her head off as a baby of about this poor child's age, and she stopped instantly upon being picked up. That's all she wanted.

This is one of many similar atrocities happening all over Japan. It appears to be a trend where the such abuse is being reported much more often to the police and the police actually taking action while technology allows the media to cover more of the story. However, it is disturbing as it illustrates the lack of "self-control" by young adults and lack of not so much parenting skills as much as a standard of human values. Although much is blamed on former parental abuse and social behavioral training by parents as being reflected by the young parent that abuse, it may be a larger social, societal issue. Then,

Many point fingers at comics and animations as well as the social media for the lack of standards of human values that seem to permeate our society today. Some blame the media. Some blame the lack of religiousness and religious training which instilled certain set of values and standards of behavior. Some blame work stress while others blame the inequities in social-economic conditions within the society. What ever it is.., there is much that must be considered and addressed soon, before this and other societies start to fall apart.

No he isn't. Period.

A MAN wouldn't do something so horrible like this. My mom always told me when babies cry there's at least a 'maternal' instinct about what the crying for. Either way, you just don't pick one up by the feet and jackslap him/her! You just DON'T! I have never fathered a child (yet) but doing a thing like this totally unspeakable. I know better than that. You don't do this kind of crap! It ain't like the baby can help it. (Insert favorite 4-letter epithet here).
