Police in Fukuoka said Sunday they have arrested a 29-year-old company employee on suspicion of abusing his 3-month-old daughter.

According to police, the suspect, Taihei Maeda, slammed his daughter against a wall at their home on Oct 4, Fuji TV reported. The impact broke his daughter's right foot.

On Oct 7, the girl's mother took her to a hospital. Staff at the hospital reported the injury to police as a case of possible abuse.

Police said Maeda has admitted to the crime and quoted him as saying that he lost his temper because his daughter wouldn't stop crying.

Animal needs his head slammed against the wall a few times..I look at my daughter she's just so cute i can't imagine how someone could do this..The mother knew what happen she should have called the police, arrest her as well. Some people do not deserve the right to have children.

Good on the hospital staff for reporting it, but how much do you want to bet that the "father" gets a suspended sentence because he's the family bread winner

What a guy!

What he did was not okay but many people lose their nerves when hearing their infants cry for a prolonged time. I never hurt my daughter but I gotta admit it still really irritated me when she was very young, until I got used to her. I think this isn't a problem of one or two nutjobs but a wider issue that needs highlighting before the child is born. Like, sometimes women go to seminars about having babies right? Can you not do that for Father's too? Educate them about baby cries and what to do when you get agitated because of the cries. Getting irritated is human but I think we need to teach the tools to deal with it and calm yourself down. Hurting your child is not okay and I think preventive measures might help.

While certainly NOT condoning the "lack of action" by the mother, I DO know that, under certain circumstances, she could have been really afraid of rather violent repercussions on both of them from her husband.

It's always the same excuse. Babies cry, that's what they do! Gladly her injuries were not too severe and hopefully he has learned a good lesson. However, he still will have to live with an explain to his daughter in the future.

If you're a mum or dad you know how incredibly frustrating a baby who won;t stop crying is - you're tired as hell and want some sleep and your baby's stomach is full and she is well but she won't stop crying for reasons you just can't figure out. We all get that 'argh!' feeling but we do not let that felling escalate - as you see, emotional maturity is necessary to take care of a baby. This guy does not have it.

@FightingViking yes that may have been the case.

Well, if the mother was smart and/or independent enough, the man will not be meeting his family anytime in the near future. Hitting a 3 month old is an instant red flag and divorce should be imminent.

I'd LOVE to slam him up against the wall. Again and again.

he lost his temper because his daughter wouldn’t stop crying.

She's three months old, you son of a... What do you expect her to do??? And did you really think she was going to stop if you slammed her against the wall??

News like this just make me furious. My one year old boy is the pride and joy, and whenever he cries the first thing I do is take him in my arms and calm him down and reassure him that everything is ok.

Children should feel that being in their father's arms is the safest place in the world. Not the most dangerous.

Not in Japan!

Disillusioned: "Not in Japan!"

Though to say. The father's (or boyfriends) sometimes get pretty stiff sentences from the bell jar; it's the mothers who are let off. I hope this guy goes to prison for a very long time.
