Police in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture, have arrested a 36-year-old self-employed man on suspicion of abusing his girlfriend’s 4-year-old daughter.

According to police, Kazuki Amiya, who was arrested on Monday, slapped the girl’s face and buttocks at his home between Feb 28 and April 4. Kyodo News reported that the child was inflicted with bruises that required roughly three weeks to heal.

Police said the child was repeatedly absent from her nursery school from late February and began attending the facility again at the start of April. The nursery school noticed bruises on the girl and contacted a child welfare agency which notified police.

The girl has since been placed in protective custody.

Police said they are questioning Amiya and the girl’s mother to see if he had been regularly abusing her.

"Bruises which took roughly 3 weeks to heal" ....... on a poor defenceless little 4-year old child - this deranged cretin needs some serious treatment before he's allowed to walk the streets freely again.

The mother has brought the wolf in the den and did not report it. Worst of its kind.

Hope the girl recovers but let the assessment go through its pace.

People deserve the chance to get educated. It was only bruises, do not escalate it to say the girls'life was in true danger. No one knows yet. Needed precaution for the girl to stay in anothef family at least temporary.

What can a 4 year old little girl do to a 36yo man that pushes him to slap her in her face and behind so hard that it leaves bruises? I get it! Kids can be annoying sometimes! But that should be no excuse for physical abuse. Japan needs to pay more attention to these types of child abuse cases and introduce more strict laws and punsihments for those who offend. There are enough fatal child abuse cases already! If the school didn't report it, it would've only been a matter of time before she'd be another fatal case. Come on, Japan! Be better!

3 weeks to heal, 3 weeks, can you believe it. What a scumbag of the highest order. That poor child is now away from this beast and may he be punished appropriately, not a suspended sentence.

Women are the protectors of their children, they supposed to put the child interest, ahead of their romantic interest,

John, since Japanese do not have mandatory paternity support, that make the father accountable for their children ,this child had a dad, where in the hell was the dad responsibility for the child being abused,it obviously he was not part of that child

Lots of mens see a woman child as an inconvenient, they want the baby mama attention, morning, and day and night,a crying child serve no purpose to their lifestyle, because lots of Japanese men are not nurturing type, lots of mens are being babe by their own mother

Lots of men do not want to get involved with women with children, especially girls, because they do not want to have the legal headache, some women have multiple baby daddy in their lives, you have no legal authority to discipline a child while you may be providing them with food and shelter, the baby daddy is always looking for drama,I do not believe in spanking any child, especially one that is not biological yours,
