Police in Chofu, Tokyo, have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in her 20s as she walked home last month.
According to police, the incident occurred at around midnight on July 9, Kyodo News reported. Police said Shogo Ueda, a bank employee, approached the woman and asked if she had any water because he “felt sick from drinking too much alcohol.” The woman said no and and kept walking.
Police said Ueda a followed the woman for about 300 meters before grabbing her arm from behind and groping her breasts. The woman broke free and ran to a nearby police box.
Police said Ueda was identified after an analysis of street surveillance camera footage. Police quoted Ueda, who was arrested on Tuesday, as saying, “I touched her breasts on an impulse.”© Japan Today
