Man arrested for assaulting 13-year-old girl on street

Police in Chofu, Tokyo, have arrested a 47-year-old part-time worker on suspicion of assaulting a 13-year-old girl as she walked home in February.

According to police, the suspect, Yutaka Takigasaki, grabbed the girl as they passed each other on the sidewalk at around 6 p.m. on Feb 15. He pushed her against a fence and punched her in the head with both fists, Fuji TV reported.

Police said Takigasaki has denied the charge and quoted him as saying he doesn't remember any such incident occurring. Police said they identified Takigasaki through street surveillance camera footage taken in the area.

Police said they are also questioning Takigasaki about another assault in the same area two weeks earlier in which a man kicked a six-year-old girl.

Well done to the girl for reporting it!!

Let's flip a coin...Was it "I was drunk and don't remember a thing" or "I was stressed from overwork"

Forensic Science can match bruising on the girl's face to a fist. Evidence submissible in court. But...

Victims of such crimes need encouragement and support for reporting such offenses.

Sounds like the attacker has a history of violent attacks. Lock him up.

Wow. What's up with that? He should've picked on someone (a male, at least) his own size. Poor little Japanese girls. Constantly being assaulted either physically or sexually.

What the hell was he doing? It's ok if he did against a man, more strong man and can manage this kind of trouble by himself.but all of victims was not. What a dirty work he did!

Let's find a new comment to make. I've seen this same assertion countless times. If you think being drunk is going to get you off in Japan, try causing a vehicular accident while under the influence. You will get an intensive course in Japanese and furniture making courtesy of the Japanese taxpayer. If you have a job, you will almost certainly be fired.

Evidence for your claim?

Doesn't matter who it is, it's not ok.

The poor girl! May nothing bad ever happen to her, again!

Agreed but also a legal revision of the definition of rape it seems :

"The definition of rape in Japan is limited to vaginal penetration by a penis, therefore excluding forced oral and anal penetration and penetration by any other object, as well as rape of men. Forced penetration of these kinds is downgraded to indecent assault (see Appendix 1b)."

He should've picked on someone (a male, at least) his own size.

That would involve the chance of retribution for his actions. This type of people prey on the weak. Seems like a frequent occurence in Japan.

I hope she kicked him, (you know where)

Somebody's got some pent up hatred towards women! Lock him up, if it was indeed him (and if not, find whomever is responsible), and perhaps he can be made into the wee girl and receive similar acts upon him. Perhaps he'll have a slightly different outlook on life after.

As for the young woman, kudos for reporting it, and here's hoping you recover completely, both mentally and physically, and this kind of thing never befalls you again.

Peter Qinghai: "Forensic Science can match bruising on the girl's face to a fist."

Not three months after the fact, they can't.

quoted him as saying he doesn’t remember any such incident occurring.

Wrong answer! You forgot to say that you had been drinking...otherwise how is anyone going to believe you?

I once went to one of those furniture sales at the annual open day in Sakai. It takes a long time to make stuff of that quality.

Anybody thinks he might be suffering from a mental disease?

To admin: Takigasaki or Takaigasaki?

I have to say that I never read news like those before, except since I am in Japan, that a male adult punched with both fist in the head of a 13 years old school student as she is passing by without any reason, feeling quite unsafe.
