Police in Kure, Hiroshima Prefecture, have arrested a 47-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of assault after he used a wooden block to hit a 38-year-old male acquaintance on the head.
The incident occurred at around 9 p.m. Monday, local media reported. Police said the two men had been drinking at a pub prior to the incident.
Police said the suspect hit the other man several times in the head with a square wooden block as they argued on a sidewalk.
The police and fire department received multiple reports from eyewitnesses about a collapsed man bleeding from his head.
The victim was taken to a hospital and was in a stable condition, police said Tuesday.

Usually in these cases it is option A or B:
A: "I was not trying to murder him (just smash his head with a heavy blunt object)"
B:"I was drunk I do not remember."

If I ever get into trouble, there is no way I am telling the police where I work. Why drag them into it?
I wish news reports would refrain from describing whatever object has been weaponized when an assault happens. It only encourages reader curiosity about the object, when it would be more human to worry about brain damage for the victim.

Hope the chap fully recovers and the other chap needs to control has anger and accept his punishment like a man.

So if a man hits another man …. Just accept the punishment…. But if a man assaults a woman ….. it must’ve been her fault…. Interesting views you have FFS……

"He could have killed the other man or, damaged his brain so much that he would not be his normal self for the rest of his life.
