Police in Sapporo on Sunday arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting his drinking companion, a man in his 30s, by kicking him in the head after an argument.

The incident occurred at around 2:30 a.m. in the Susukino district, Hokkaido Broadcasting Corp reported. Police said that prior to the incident, the suspect, a company employee, and the victim has been drinking together in a nearby bar.

The two started arguing and went outside. They got into a scuffle and the older man knocked his companion down and kicked him in the head. A witness called police.

The victim was taken to hospital where doctors said Sunday his injuries were not life-threatening. The suspect has denied kicking his drinking companion, police said.

never discuss serious topics when drinking, ever.

You will find, through age and experience, that fights start over the stupidest of things between the best of friends when drinking. Not just "serious" topics.

The "older" guy here is an arse! Probably more of an arse when drinking. If you can't control yourself, then either stop drinking, or drink alone, in a cage, where you wont hurt anyone.

In all my years of drinking here, I have never been in a fight, and none of my drinking companions either, none of us tolerate arsehole drinkers.

Like I wrote, the older guy is more thank likely a dick even when he doesnt drink.

So... how'd he get the boot mark on the face? Honestly, the amount of drinking-related incidents lately with people killing roommates they drink with, family they drink with, co-workers they drink with... maybe lay off the sauce a little, eh?

I would assume one drank more than the other!
