Man arrested for attempted murder after stabbing woman at love hotel

Who carries a large kitchen knife to a love hotel? I seriously doubt that he "just lost it"...For whatever sick reason he had for doing this, this was clearly premeditated and planned.

@jsyndrome There may be some stigma attached to being 28 and unemployed in Japan, but I wouldn't read too much into the term. Crime reports (and sometimes accident reports) here usually identify people by their occupation as well as their name. "Company worker so-and-so", "Housewife so-and-so", "Third-year Elementary School Pupil so-and-so", "College Student so-and-so", and the like are quite standard in the news. If they don't have an occupation, they are described as "Unemployed so-and-so".

Over the years I have heard/read many comments by non-Japanese about the practice, but I can't recall ever coming across a Japanese who thought it unusual, or had even given it much if any thought. In fact, the only real opinions I've heard from Japanese about it have come from a few retirees, who wished that the media would use "retiree" instead of "unemployed" for their peers.

Not enough information to understand the nature of the motive in this case. But it seems to imply he lost his temper, a consistent characteristic. Will he receive psychiatric help, for his loss of control resulting in the Japanese system classification of a felony charge, and if convicted of a fellony will he go on the international crime database, or will he tradionally aplogize and get the systematic suspended sentence?

Interesting case to see how the female's human rights are assesed here. Although the atricle appears to admonish the point that the "her wounds are not life-threatening" as if to counter the implications for "attempted murder"

Saitama off to a good start this morning. What's with these psychos, anyway? Why'd he 'lose it'? I mean, picking someone up at a restaurant and taking them to a love hotel isn't first on my list of things I might lose it over (unless he was stressed out because he was cheating or something... which of course doesn't at all justify what he did). I hope the woman recovers quickly. Next time maybe a coffee date first.

The terror this woman must have felt... I shudder to think! Kurosawa needs to check into a psych ward, if you ask me. Since he had the presence of mind to turn himself in after the deed, maybe there is hope that he could balance out his psychiatric issues in the future. As for the woman, though, she will be traumatised for life, no doubt. I hope for her speedy recovery.

As for the comment about people carrying knives. It is a lot more common than anyone would like to believe. Too many young guys are carrying large blades in their kits.
