Police in Kuroishi, Aomori Prefecture, have arrested a 52-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of attempting to kill his 88-year-old father with whom he lived.
According to police, Michiaki Odagiri stabbed his father in the head, arm and leg in the living room at around 5:50 a.m. Saturday, local media reported. Police said they received a call at 6 a.m. from another member of the household, reporting the incident.
When police arrived at the house, Odagiri was still wielding a knife. A police officer drew his gun and ordered Odagiri to drop the knife and stand still, while another police officer handcuffed him.
The victim was taken to hospital where doctors said the stab wounds were not life-threatening.
Police said Odagiri, who was drunk at the time of his arrest, has so far given no motive for attacking his father.

Me thinks he was requested to get a job.

Possibly an aging hikkikomori / shut in who needed help 30 years ago. Fortunately, according to Japan Today there’s a group in Fukuoka that’s helping.

Dad probably told him to become a useful member of society and he flipped his wheels.

It’s amazing how many people immediately think he’s hikikimori or a loser. It’s more likely he is unemployed because he is the full time cared of his father.
