Police in Nirasaki, Yamanashi Prefecture, said Monday they have arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of attempting to kill a girl in her late teens.
According to police, Mikio Fukushima, a company employee from Honjo, Saitama Prefecture, stabbed the teenage girl in the neck with a knife as they sat in a parked car at around 9:35 a.m. Sunday, Sankei Shimbun reported.
The girl was able to get out of the car, which was in the parking lot of the Midai Physical Education Center, and ran for help. A passerby saw her and called 110.
The girl was taken to hospital where doctors said her wound will take about one month to recover from.
Police did not release the age of the girl but said she lived in Yamanashi Prefecture and that she and Fukushima knew each other. Police said Fukushima has been giving vague responses since his arrest.© Japan Today
