Police in Tokyo have arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of attempted rape after he broke into the home of a teenage girl in Edogawa Ward earlier this month.
The suspect has been identified as Tsuyoshi Sasaki, a resident of Edogawa Ward, whose occupation is unknown, Sankei Shimbun reported. According to police, Sasaki got into the apartment through an unlocked window at around 4 a.m. on Sept 7 and attempted to rape the girl who was asleep at the time. She woke up and screamed, which prompted Sasaki to flee.
Sasaki surfaced as a suspect after street surveillance camera footage showed him leaving the scene on a bicycle.
After his arrest, Sasaki was quoted by police as stating, “I couldn’t control my sexual desire.” Police suspect that Sasaki may be responsible for at least three similar assaults in the area recently.© Japan Today
