Police in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, have arrested a 59-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of attempting to rob a Sukiya gyudon (beef bowl) restaurant in April.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 3:10 a.m. on April 30 at the Sukiya 467 Fujisawa Chogo store. The suspect, Tadao Fukunaga, who lives in Yokohama, was arrested on Thursday, Sankei Shimbun reported. Police said he has denied the charge and quoted him as saying he has no recollection of the attempted robbery.
Fukunaga is accused of entering the restaurant and threatening the 25-year-old employee with a knife and demanding money. However, the employee set off an alarm. Fukunaga fled from the store and got away in a car.
Police said they were able to identify the car from street surveillance camera footage.

If not forced by other people or extreme poverty I never wouldn’t eat there and therefore also wouldn’t expect there any big money from many other wealthy customers if ever forced to steal money. lol

Hope the arrest this time around will serve as a deterrent against other would-be criminals.

Oops. Upon further reading, this guy is obviously just a thug.

Every year in Japan, when the weather gets cold, these kinds of nobody-gets-hurt easy-to-get-caught crimes ramp up. "Three hots and a cot", can be quite a motivation for these older unemployed/underemployed "criminals" in Japan. It's sad.

Sukiya now accept credit cards, they never used to, and all the electronic payment methods, so there won't be much money in the till anyway. Certainly not enough to make armed robbery worthwhile.
