Man arrested for beating 3-year-old daughter after he loses at video game

He should be charged with attempted murder rather than the ordinary criminal charge of inflicting bodily injury.

Its hard to tell whether he hit her out of vengeance for disturbing him or if it was just an unthinking emotional reaction. I once hit my little one when he bit my arm. Man, it hurt! Pain like that my reflexive action is to swat what is biting me. Luckily I did not hit so hard, but I felt bad anyway. Just seeing him cry causes me pain.

And I can get pretty angry playing games too. I sometimes pound tables and knock things over. And since some people cheat by using aimbots, maybe you can understand my frustration when me and my team just get completely steamrolled which is not really possible. But my little one is never in the same room when I play. Did he not mean to hit her? I don't know.

All I know for sure is, its time for him to take up a new hobby. I hope the girl will be fine and I hope the other marks were not caused from abuse. But if he is guilty of intentional abuse, lock him up.

The daughter has a congenital illness. Gotta suspeect that's the real reason for thwacking her on the head. The video game sounds like a made up excuse. Child care authorities need to keep on top of this one.

Unfortunately, child bashers never get caught first time round. I have no doubt this kid has been abused before. Let's just hope she doesn't have to endure it anymore. Good job on the mother's part for bringing it to the attention of a doctor and authorities.

Scum like this aren't unique to Japan... there was a man at the local supermarket who was grappled to the ground and taken to the police by shoppers for punching a little girl for talking to herself.

I don't believe his video game story. The hospital would not inform the police unless they were pretty sure it was case of systematic child beating. I've got a feeling he's been beating this kid regularly...not, as he is trying to make out, a one-off case of his getting angry at losing at a video game.

Heck, I am 45 and been playing with the same team for over 15yrs, many guys are my senior with family Many of the old-timers played for decades.

The gaming is not the problem here but that he couldn't control himself and took it out on his daughter.

I can understand how people can be so absorbed into a game and get frustrated when things don't go your way. But as a parent we need to be mature enough and set examples to our children. You can be the kind of person that accepts defeat and show good sportsmenship or be the kind of person that walks away and counts to 10 or infinite till the blood stops rushing to your head and think rationally again.

I cant disgree more. Any kind of real man wants to protect women and children. And if "It takes a village to raise a child" sometimes it takes a group of angry dads to bring another one into line. If you are beating a 3 yr old enough to leave bruises on their face, you need to have your behavior modified with a baseball bat. Reward and respect good behavior and punish bad behavior, simple as that. If hell beat his own child in the face with a toy, whats stopping him from doing worse to someone elses?

You know, we used to hear excuses of 'Because I couldn't pay the rent' or ' We didn't have any money to pay the electricity bill' as a lame attempt to try to possibly justify beating a vulnerable Blue little being ....who just coincidentally relied upon you for their survival. Now it's because 'I lost at a game'. Pretty.much sums up society these days worldwide. Most of them don't even know they are born. Totally sickening to the core.

We were out recently with our children, and saw a mother, not young - say 40 something, with her little under 5 year old daughter, and a much much younger man whom she was all over. The girl irritated her by wanting to talk, and she punched the girl with a closed fist on top of her head so hard it made a thudding sound and the child burst into tears. I was beyond disgusted, and told her so, but noone seemed to want to do anything about it. Other people saw and they just didnt seem to give a damn. What can I say, the Japanese Ive seen appear to be the most terrible parents, and children rank much lower than the love lives of their mothers, it would appear.

No more video games for this rat!
