Police in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, said Friday they have arrested a 46-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting his son, who is in his 20s, at their home.

According to police, the suspect, a company employee, has admitted to punching his son in the face at around 10:10 p.m. Thursday. Hokkaido Broadcasting Corp reported that the man called 119 after the incident and said his son had lost consciousness after he had hit him. The victim was taken to hospital where doctors said he had suffered a broken nose.

Police quoted the man as saying that he lost his temper while he and his son, a university student, were having an argument. At the time, the man’s wife and their second-oldest son were also home.

What exactly is, "a company employee"? An "office worker"? A "chef" at the HIlton? And what does this have to do with the incident? Would it be less serious if he were "unemployed"?

The father worked hard all his life to put his son in University and hopefully have a prosperous life after graduation. That is a lot of money.

the son should respect his father. After graduation he can get a new life. It’s like at 20yrs, the father can spank his bottom, or ground him.

I sometimes get my nose broken or very occasionally get knocked out. It is no real problem. Stubbing my toe on the table leg is much more painful. I won’t mention paper cuts…

The father must take his son to the hospital to have his broken nose repaired. A broken nose can affect his son's breathing and health. And if the father is arrested he should be sentenced to years the son's nose has taken days to heal. That is 5 days = 5 years.

I think there is more to this story than simply a Father KO'ing his Son.

This is a Family issue, and should be left alone by the Press.

Discipline went wrong, I can understand what the father is going through right now.
