Police in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, have arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of breaking into a swimming school after it was closed and stealing brand-new swimsuits.
According to local media, the incident occurred on the morning of March 29. Police said Hitoshi Takashita is accused of breaking into the school near his home and stealing 16 new swimsuits (men’s, women’s and children’s sizes) from the school’s stock.
An employee later contacted the police, reporting that one of the school’s glass windows was broken and swimsuits were scattered throughout the premises.
Police examined security camera footage and managed to identify Takashita.
Police said Takashita has denied the allegation and quoted him as saying, “I don’t remember doing anything like that.”

I don't remember doing that, even though that is me on the security video carrying several packages that look exactly like the school's swimsuits.......hmmm.
Does this tactic actually work in Japanese courts? Rhetorical question. The answer is いいえ!

I guess that "I was stressed from work" or "I didn't intend to kill them" wouldn't have worked here.
