Man arrested for cutting off 5-year-old son’s toe in Okayama

A man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of cutting off his second son’s little toe in September last year. The boy also had signs of burns on his upper body and police are investigating the possibility of child abuse.

Manabu Nagaishi ,an unemployed 39-year-old resident of Okayama City, is suspected of cutting off his son’s toe on his left foot with scissors or a similar instrument at home on Sept 17 last year. Police said Nagaishi has denied the allegation and refused to say anything.

According to police, Nagaishi’s second son had been living at a child care facility since he was 1 year old as Nagaishi reportedly wanted to focus on raising his eldest son, and was visiting home at the time of the incident. With the toe dangling at the joint, Nagaishi’s wife took the boy to the hospital, and the toe healed after about six weeks. The boy continues to live at the facility.

The couple had four children until the eldest son died from an illness.

Do the math, he probably abused this kid, burn marks? Do unto him what he did to his kid (and to think people here think Islamic/Sharia type laws are all bad).

why did it take 1 year ?! why not report this when the boy went to hospital with the toe almost gone ?

"eldest son died from an illness" is also suspicious with these accusations, the news item is somewhat confusing

He shouldn't do that anywhere else, either.

"police are investigating the possibility of child abuse." POSSIBLE child abuse? I'm pretty sure the signs point to definite child abuse.

"With the toe dangling at the joint, Nagaishi's wife took the boy to the hospital, and the toe healed after about six weeks."

So he didn't actually cut the toe off. So his punishment should include cutting his baby toe just enough so it dangles at the joint.

This man is 'Barbarian.' Someone should cut out his tongue, and pin it on his nose, with a sign: 'I'm Barbarian & Butcher.' Hope that he will be behind the bars for a very long time. Yes this is an offence, 'Child abuse with assault.'

Illness ?? I think it's called 'the disgusting parents virus'...and a lot of kids have it in Japan.

another sad horrible case of parents not knowing what the hell to do with their kids so they abuse them. sad. sick. why - with one toe cut already, was the child back in the home unsupervised????? burn marks???eldest son died? from what. we need more information.

So sending one child to a "child care facility" because you want to focus on the older one is considered perfectly acceptable in this country? Well, it should be obvious, because only the first son can inherit the throne! Mwahaha!

I hope the parents are sorry for causing confusion.

WTF....?

What a real piece a work... I wish I could find this guy, I would really enjoy cutting a few of his digits off...

Another fine upstanding JN citizen... With the mind of a 12 year old...

Bet he gets a suspended sentence, because, "He was under so much stress and it was only natural to assume that he would have committed such an act."

SICK!!

How can you cut someones toe to a point that it is dangling by the joint, let alone it being a kid...your own kid.

This is not only child abuse, but torture. This child was obviously terrorized. Wonder if the man can be charge with that too?!

very strange....so many japanese nowadays go really crazy. they should really be open and speak up instead of hurting their kins or other people. come out to the open and let go of what they really feel. God bless those who suffer especially the children.

That is just sick. Sick and sad that the first son died at the hands of his father (most likely) and the second son is clearly being abused when he allowed to visit his parents home. The poor kids.
