Man arrested for cutting off sleeping woman's underwear

Police said Friday they have arrested a man for assault after he broke into an apartment and cut off a sleeping woman's underwear.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Yoshiaki Kurosaka, a 33-year-old advertising company employee, broke into the apartment of a 30-year-old woman in Tokyo's Toshima Ward at around 6:45 a.m. on Sept 21. TBS quoted police as saying that he crept into the woman's bedroom and cut off her underwear with a pair of scissors. The woman awoke screaming in fright, prompting her assailant to flee.

Police were able to identify Kurosaka from surveillance camera footage of him leaving the apartment block, TBS reported.

Police said that although Kurosaka admitted to breaking into the woman's apartment, he has denied any intent to commit sexual assault. He was quoted as saying, "I don't remember even touching her."

The woman told police she had never met Kurosaka.

Security in the homes need to become much tighter such as sensor alarms and if the home is rented it should be provided by the person that ownes the home free of charges for that area can no longer be trusted as 'safe'.

Also the criminal's residence should be made know by the placement of signs around their home describing exactly who the are and what they have done against society.

legalize guns and these type of incidents will come to a halt!

The majority of the comments think that this is another "only in Japan" crime. The only reason we hear about this is there is not much other crime to report on. Other countries have much more violent crimes which is why this type of news does not make the front page of the NY Times. I'm sure it goes around, but we just don't hear about it. But no matter where it happens it is strange and creepy behavior.

Strange we in the west are more interested what inside these garments than the garments itself. Never understood these fascination with panties, dragonball piggy is to blame!

Beyond creepy.

Yeah..konjo4u says, I expect he feels powerful because the victim is helpless and also unconscious (asleep). The worst of the worst. Guy needs help.

@Dr Dolittle2. Well, excuse me, does that mean that I have to close ALL my windows at night because of some pervert who decides I'm the perfect victim and enters MY property to violate MY underwear (if nothing else)? (I'm claustrophobic. Closed windows are a huge no-no with me. Even hotels, I need windows which can be opened.)

It is very easy to enter a house. I realized it when we had workers working at home and they climbed up to my room without a ladder even (and p.s. we have our front wall surrounded with spiny cactus)..all my sense of security and safety vanished. When I asked the worker, he told me "You just need to have legs long enough and enough strength in your hands to pivot yourself well".

It is not about attraction. It is a pathological "upper hand" or social dominance satisfaction. It takes many forms. Thre are very much living breathing females that could do something patholgogical to this guy. Unfortunately it is not interesting unless it is someone helpless or innocent. The perfect victim.

How can some break into a locked house so easily...there must be a window or door left unlocked.

It's an easy story about which to make clever puns and jokes but this poor woman must've been absolutely terrified and probably will be for a while. I can't imagine how scary it would have been to have woken up to that happening. She has all my sympathy.

As for this loser, studies show that while not all people with perversions such as his or predilections towards exhibitionism and peeping end up being serial rapists or sexual murderers, criminals in the latter two groups very often started with what people too easily dismiss as "innocent" or "victimless" crimes such as exhibition, peeping or stealing underwear or bras before escalating to more serious offenses.

Nothing surprises me anymore when it pertains to stories of Japanese men and women's underwear.

I think that this guy needs help more than anything. it's creepy all right.

Guys like this, is why I am scared to live by myself..or be alone at home at night :/

I'd slap and punch any guy who says "I don't remember" after he tried to strip me off (even with my permission, let alone without). I don't think he attempted to break in the house and cut off her undies under alcohol.

He should take a long nice trip to jail to calm down and realize that women don't wear underwear for men like him to cut them off. I thought one can pay certain kind of women for that. People constantly warn me (even Japanese themselves), that if I ever do decide to come to Japan, I should be living with a guy otherwise I will find underwear missing or worse. Kinda made me rethink the idea ^^;. I'm very and would end up pushing furniture in front of doors and windows.

apartments in Japan are very easy to break in.

Wow...guess he really wanted a fresh pair instead of buying them out of a vending machine or ordering them online. CRAZY!

One of my friends said some Japanese are really disgusting, they even have Hentai stores selling used underwear, and I laughed "how come. where did you hear that". Now I'm not sure. I suppose there is something wrong with the culture?

I know some ladies who dig this kind of thing, why?? No idea, but what ever floats your boat, but crime is not good IMHO.

I guess my point Maria was that a real man wouldn't do this

It is not about being a 'real man', in my opinion. It is about this man being a criminal. There are plenty of shy people in the world that do not feel the need to turn to crime.

You're likening breaking and entering and assault, to a misguided attempt at courtship? People like you are what's wrong with this world.

I guess my point Maria was that a real man wouldn't do this, hence the no balls comment. Next time I'll try to be less astute.

You're likening breaking and entering and assault, to a misguided attempt at courtship?

Exactly, as I wrote above, this guy is a criminal, plain and simple.

this is really scary specially for us women specially when you are supposed to be sleeping in the safety of your own home or apartment.

Why didn't just ask her to dinner?

Wait a moment. This is said to have happened on Sept. 21 and we are only hearing about it now--how come? Was not on Nov. 21?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Why didn't just ask her to dinner?

Because he is a fiend.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

The underwear should fit very well since this guy doesn't have any balls. Why didn't just ask her to dinner?

I know you all can not understand the thrill of seeing a observing a beautiful, sleeping woman in her underwear but breaking into her house?? Cutting off her yummy underwear??? Holy cow!! That does sound very, very thrilling but I guess these Japanese guys are not satisfied by paying for these hentai fantasy shops in Kabukicho, etc...??? Sick, sick, sick! But if my girlfriend was into this kind of thing?? What is a man to do!!!

HAHAHAHHAHAHA!

@miamanera - oh no, not only in Japan, during her student years, my cousin in Europe woke up by a noise, finding an older guy next to her and when she screamed like hell he ran out. Turned out he also went through her underwear drawer and laundry basket before that and took all undies. She moved the next day and the police never caught the guy.

only in japan....

Why can't it be the other way around? Women break into my apartment to steal my underwear.

The "I don't remember" defense only works for corrupt cops and politicians, bud.

I hope he makes more than a ....brief... appearance in jail.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Calm down, he was just stressed.

Actually crazedinjapan, it is straight out of a manga magazine, so it's not as twisted as you think. The latest manga craze is, sexual canniblism. After sex they eat their partner. Let's hope no one follows through on this one too.

Seriously twisted

"I don't remember..." always the default defense for the guilty in Japan.

Taking stealing panties to a new level here. Watch out for copycats!

When I first read this article there were no comments. It seemed appropriate. Unbelievable.
