Man arrested for drug use after driving on Hokkaido train tracks

A 42-year-old man was arrested for using illegal stimulants on Saturday after he drove his car along the tracks of the JR Soya line in the town of Nakagawa, police said Sunday.

Police said Katsuyuki Mogami, an unemployed resident of Wakkanai City, drove onto the train tracks just after 6.30 a.m. Saturday morning and proceeded about 200 meters south down the line. A single-carriage train with no passengers on board collided with the car, but the driver was not injured nor was Mogami, who had left his vehicle. Three trains bound for Wakkanai were delayed as a result of the collision.

Police said they took a urine sample from Mogami during questioning after suspecting he may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The test returned a positive result for illegal stimulants.

Mogami has denied taking any drugs, and told police he mistook the train line for a road.

How does an unemployed man afford stimulant drugs?

Unemployment

I wonder if he was actually trying to commit suicide? Not so uncommon outside of Japan to kill yourself in your car and let a train do the rest.

"I had no choice, i was being chased by pink elephants."

Acid isn't a stimulant, it is a hallucigenic. speed most likely. It's pretty cheap in japan, I like the name of the town it happened in - sums the guy up perfectly.

Speed costs about 50 GBP a gramme, inbLondon it can be had for about 5GBP a gramme.

Acid sounds like a good bet. Lovely drug, but not good for some.

Yay this is so >>>BACK TO THE FUTURE 4

It'll just be the old 'Kakuseizai' again - nameless drug number 3. One of the reasons why people seem to go straight onto the hard drugs over here is cos there's no legal distinction between different types. I doubt he even knows what he took....

Most definitely buzzed.

Wonder what the street name is for "illegal stimulants". Perhaps the exchange goes "hey man, you lookin' for something?" and the buyer goes, "you got any of those, you know, illegal stimulants?" and the dealer goes, "oh you mean, DRUG?"

Don't DRUG!

One of many great lines from the movie Groundhog Day when Bill Murray is driving down the tracks towards an oncoming traing, "I'm betting he's going to swerve first."

Substance abuse Hey, i should be in the news, I helped a Japanese man early morning in Chiba. He fell down on his face, broke his nose and was lying down in the middle of the street. I went over to see if he was alright. Carried him to the curb, and looked if he was breathing. Then went on my way. Where did he get the drugs from ?

Easy to get stimulants here. Go to a quack who doesn`t know you say "i have narcolepsi" and you will get 10mg of Ritalin 3 times a day.

LOads of people maybe like this geezer find the loopholes and take advantage. Remeber, you can go to multiple doctors. Someone could get loads of Ritalin or aphetamine based slimming pills if they are over 85 KG.

You mean, "how does a stimulant addict hold down a job"?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Train wreck! Train wreck! Got your train wreck here." That's what you hear on the corners, from the guys pushing their illegal stimulant product.

USNinJapan2, I know, its soooo much different. I am sure even in his drug addled state he said it correctly so no chance of the following conversation:

Officer: Where are you from? Mogami: Wakkanai! Officer: I said, where are you from? Mogami: Wakkanai!

Repeat.

erratic behaviour is either caused by alchohol or drugs. Such behavior is disgusting and sick, especially when it hurts innocent people. So sad.

Got to disagree with you there, Love. Erratic behavior can be caused by lots of things... a hormonal imbalance, on-setting dementia, etc.

At least in this case no one was hurt.
