Man arrested for flooding hotel rooms in Hiroshima

Police said Friday they have arrested a 45-year-old man for causing damage to several rooms at a hotel in Hiroshima by leaving the shower running.

According to police, the man, who has been identified as Ken Egoshi, first became embroiled in an argument with staff on Tuesday morning, following which police were called to the scene to calm the situation, NTV reported.

Police say Egoshi then returned to his hotel and deliberately turned on the shower and left the shower head filling his room with water. The water is said to have cascaded from the seventh floor to the second, damaging 14 rooms, NTV reported.

Police say the water was discovered by a staff member on the fifth floor at 9:25 a.m. on Tuesday, at which point the police were called. Egoshi attempted to check out of the hotel, but a police officer recognized him from the earlier disturbance and he was arrested at the scene.

Police said Egoshi had registered under a false name -- Kentaro Takahashi.

Some people are just passive-aggressive.

I mean, it's not like he's on an all night bender/binge fueled delirium such as that of a throwback rocker.

Just some guy who thought he wasn't given proper respect and thought he'd learn them a lesson.

What was the original argument about? I guess he must be pretty pissed off to do such a thing.

Registered under a false name? I didn't come down in the last shower! More to this than meets the eye I'd wager.

Tis the season to be jolly.

Water is a concern in mansions too. That is why I do not do my own water repairs...even if I could get the parts, as they are locked into company and affiliate coops.

Do it yourself stores are pretty useless when it comes to doing your own major repairs.

This guy knew the water would run down. Most real hotels have drains on the floors of toilets and showers to deal with the idiots.

he wasn't given proper respect and thought he'd learn them a lesson.

The mods will almost certainly delete this for being off topic, but he thought he would teach them a lesson, not learn them a lesson. Sorry, but it needs correcting....

Why would you say in the hotel?

"Grammatically correct" or not, "That'll learn 'em" is often used in jest

Not a real man. Stupid revenge.

Passive aggression has been elevated to almost an art form in Japan.

Man losing control is a dangerous thing...

Sounds to me like a Yak who demanded that they let him stay for free and because they called the cops on him decided on some revenge.

I agree registered under a false name to begin with, what for? More to the story!

If he was registered under a false name, why did he bother checking out?

If he'd stolen a towel from his room, he'd be the "Wet Bandit."

What is the reason he flooded the hotel room in the first place and what was he arguing with staff about.
