Police have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of forcibly kissing a 40-year-old woman as she walked along a sidewalk in Tokyo's Ota Ward in June.
According to police, Kohei Funai, a company employee, sneaked up on the woman from behind, grabbed her face with both of his hands and kissed her, Fuji TV reported.
Police said they identified Funai from street surveillance camera footage that showed the registration number of his motorbike he used before and after the incident.
According to police, Funai has admitted to the charge, saying, “I had a sexual desire to just kiss her.”
Police said there have been about 10 similar cases over the past three years in Ota and Shinagawa wards and are questioning Funai about his involvement in those incidents.
