A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of disturbing the public peace after he allegedly groped a 16-year-old high school girl on a train in Kanagawa Prefecture.
Police said the incident occurred at around 7 a.m. Monday aboard an express train on the Sotetsu Main Line between Tsurugamine and Yokohama stations, Sankei Shimbun reported. Kiu Mihara, a company employee from Hadano City, was caught touching the girl’s lower body by a patrol officer and arrested on the spot.
Police said Mihara has admitted to the charge.
According to police reports, the girl, a student from Yokohama, said she was groped twice by Mihara while aboard the train in December and on Jan 21. After she consulted officers from Tobe Police Station, they launched an investigation with the railway police.
Police believe Mihara targeted the girl for a third time and boarded the train to molest her again, though he claims he was on his way to work.

To change the laws you've got to first change the mindset.
Hard to do when your country is supporting industries which make big profits off of sex-related industries which exploit women and girls on an industrial scale.

It’s both. But generally the Japanese are emotionless zombies when someone is in trouble and needs help ( in public ). So I guess you’re right after all.
Zack
this is sexual assault on a child.

I imagine that the appropriate charges will come later but to hold him they just use whatever charge will fit for the time being, a little bit like murderers initially being arrested on a charge of failing to correctly dispose a body (or something akin to that).

Make sure he does not get a suspended sentence.

Brave girl to be willing to set up a sting with the police. Good on her for helping them catch this perverted sleezebag.

Should have given her steel toed boots, knee caps and brass knuckles.

"caught touching the girl’s lower body by a patrol officer and arrested on the spot."
Another nutcrack sexual predator "company man" running around again. Put his dusty behind on the J sex offender list, if they have one.

Because you can't molest and go to work on the same day? Good logic there, Kiu. If that is your real name.

Well as bad as this is and we keep hearing about them all the time at least when they are caught here the are prosecuted and usually found guilty, just read that a judge in India ruled that groping over clothing isn't sexual assaults. Under that definition non of these guys in Japan would be guilty or even arrested.

Why wasn't he arrested during the time if she was able to positively identify him?

We all know how this is going to end - it will be her fault, because "it was the way she dressed". Or "he was drunk" or "he is mentally handicaped".
I just wonder, how much persuation was needed in order for the police to act...
Monozuki
He is a *25-year-old** man. *Why doesn't he get a decent girl friend?
Robert Cikki
In a country, where selling magazines with under 18 year old girls in underwear/swimsuit/showing a lot is accepted and pretty much just dismissed jokingly "he is just a lol*con"?

In the crowded train, it is amazing she could identify him the first or second time. And for a 16-year old to go to the Police. Most would have just varied the carriage they enter each morning, or the time they board, in order to never see the creep again.

He's BUSTED and now the rest of his life begins, and weather it's a good life or bad life is in question .... Think before you do crap like this because the price you'll pay many times is more then you can afford ....

Oh come on. Can we have a little bit of perspective? Yes, groping on trains is disgusting, and yeah, he should be punished. But "sexual assault on a child"? Do you not realize that there are really terrible things out there, compared to which this is is nothing? If we always use the strongest terms for smallest offenses, is that not belittling the victims of really serious assaults?

As I said before, School uniforms seem to affect some Lunatics in negative ways, so one solution is to eliminate wearing uniforms when out of schools, Hospitals, Banks, factories, and many more allow there staff to change uniforms after work, why not schools too?
Toasted Heretic
Yes.
That's what he did. Groping or fondling a child is sexual assault.
Any inappropriate touching of children is serious.
