Police in Kashihara, Nara Prefecture, have arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of sexually molesting a 17-year-old high school girl after he groped her while she was riding her bicycle.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 7:25 a.m. on Sept 24. Police said the unnamed suspect, who is a company employee, was also riding a bicycle, Sankei Shimbun reported. He came up behind the girl and then as he passed her, groped her breast with one hand and then pedaled off.
Police said the suspect has admitted to the charge and quoted him as saying he couldn’t control his lust for the girl.
Police said there have been around 20 similar cases targeting uniform-clad junior high school and high school students in the vicinity of the suspect’s home since February this year. The incidents occurred in the mornings and late afternoons as the girls were going to and from school.
Street surveillance camera footage revealed that the suspect was riding a distinctive cyclocross bike and police have been on the alert for one in the area. On Monday, at around 7:45 a.m., a police officer noticed a man riding such a bike. When he was questioned, he admitted to the string of groping incidents.

What a sicko! I've seem women that I think are quite appealing, but I keep those thoughts AND my hands to myself just like any normal person. His punishment should be severe and struck as to send a strong message to any tother potential sicko who gets their thrills off of innocent children! I also hope the victim isn't too damaged by this.

Agreed. A lot of Japanese men have huge issue with keeping their hands to themselves. It's nice that this truth about Japan is accepted by certain Japanophiles that constantly whine when other negative facts about Japan are published or pointed out.

I wonder if there is a relation between what's being shown in Publications/Media and the way people who view that think of the Norm.
For example, using the UK as an example, "Carry on Films" where quite popular, as too Benny Hill, and often involved pinching Women's rears, or squeezing their oversized fronts. Though nowadays both are considered poor taste. People in the UK don't go around pinching girls bots or grabbing their breasts - indeed if you even touch a Girls arm you could end up on the sex-offenders registry for life.
Perhaps if there is a relationship between the two, then something similar needs doing here in Japan ?
