Early on the morning of Aug 27, a 33-year-old woman was buying a drink from a vending machine on the platform of Hanshin Amagasaki Station in the city of Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture. While she was focused on selecting and retrieving her beverage, though, a 47-year-old man who was walking past her touched her buttocks.
He then ran out of the station, but the woman, along with a station employee, gave chase and cornered him in a nearby park, where he reportedly admitted to groping the victim. The police were summoned, but once the officer arrived on scene to take the man into custody, he became less talkative. When asked for his name and occupation (a standard part of on-site police questioning in Japan), he gave no response at all.
The officer pressed on, though, and he asked the man why he’d done what he had on the platform, when finally the man spoke, saying: “I love women from my very core. I will only talk to a woman.”
Of course, you don’t have to say anything to get arrested and hauled down to the station, and the male officer had no problem doing both. As per Japanese law, the groper is entitled to a public defender to provide him with legal counsel, and, sure enough, he’s requested that his lawyer be a woman, though it remains to be seen if he’ll get his wish, or if any female attorney would be willing to take his case.

The police have no obligation to cooperate. He may as well be demanding a steak dinner with wine instead of jail slop. And in Japan they can keep him locked up a long time before even bringing charges.

Perhaps they should detain him for a day or two, claiming no female lawyer is currently available. Two can play at non-corporation.

If he actually knew how to talk to a woman, he most likely wouldn't be in this situation.
I'm predicting should he actually be able to obtain a woman officer or lawyer to assist him, he wouldn't know what to do or say to either.

I know, man. Nowadays for way too many people anything they see or hear is racist, misogyny, homophobic, sexually and religiously extremely offensive. Even when my comment above refers to this one specific case of this perv wanting to talk only to a woman lawyer (only punishment for him coz he's a perv), some might see this as an attack against the gay community.

Any kind is sexual assault crime like this should have more severe consequences. It should be a minimum of twenty years in prison with no chance of parole. For the more serious offenses a firing squad should be used. It is time for the good individuals to take back the universe.

While I think this is hilarious and heartily agree, it’s odd that the mods left this comment because it makes time spent with a gay person to be some kind of punishment, which sounds rather transphobic to me. But whatever!
