Man arrested for groping woman on Utsunomiya street

Police in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture, have arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting a 23-year-old woman after he allegedly grabbed and fondled her as she walked home.

According to police, Tomoyasu Koike, a construction worker, came up behind the woman, who works as a beautician, as she walked home at around 8 p.m. on July 12, Fuji TV reported. The woman told police the man put one hand over her mouth and then groped her breasts, before running away.

Police said Koike, who was identified through street surveillance camera footage and descriptions given by witnesses and the woman, has remained silent on the charge.

Meanwhile, local media reported that several similar incidents have been reported in the area over the past three years and that police are questioning Koike about his involvement in those cases.

Shoulda thought to say "I was drunk and don't remember a thing"

Or he could say "I was angry"

Given that construction workers usually start off with a can of beer or the like from around 6 pm in front of a convenience store, chances were high that he may have been drunk and fondled the woman before he knew it. Yeah, he could have used a well-worn phrase like "I was drunk and don't remember a thing." Hope the police investigate other similar incidents in which he might have been involved.
