A 55-year-old man was arrested for assault in Ube City on Thursday, accused of hitting a 15-year-old girl with a metal bat, police said.

Police said Sueo Matsuoka, a construction worker, is accused of hitting the girl in the head and her buttocks with the bat at 8.30 p.m. Thursday in an Ube City car park. The girl, Matsuoka’s son’s ex-girlfriend, was not seriously injured.

Matsuoka has denied the allegations, and told police he had been drinking.

"Matsuoka has denied the allegations, and told police he had been drinking."

Way to hedge your alibi. 'I didn't do it, but if I did I was drunk.'

She wasn't injured? An exaggeration by someone then?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

She was probably so busy messaging on her keitai or listening to her iPod that she never felt the blow to her head, so he had to smack a second time her across her bottom to get her attention.

So obviously this guy was not swinging for the fences, but rather laying down a sacrifice bunt.

Here goes the drunk excuse again

Some people just need to be put down.

I think they meant "not seriously injured" instead of "not injured"

Moderator: The text has since been corrected to reflect that.

Must have been a checked swing...maybe an accident.

Must have been a checked swing...maybe an accident.

Accidentally hit her twice?

One thing I will say for western culture over Japanese is that so much as brandishing a baseball bat at a 15 year old girl is more than just "bad", it is a denial of your manhood. Anybody who knew about it would consider you to be a joke from that day forward, but here, he may be taken seriously again one day after paying his dues.

I hope the girl really is ok.

Nobody disses my son and gets away with it!! Thwack! Thwack! That'll teach ya!

Sueo Matsuoka took a bat and gave his son's ex girlfriend 40 wacks when he looked what he had done he gave himself 41.

Spidey- I believe that is exactly the issue. Son didn't have ball enough to do, cried to daddy. Dad got drunk and said come son, I will show you why us men here in Japan are better then women. WHACK WHACK, now boy....remember this lesson well. YOu are a man, you drink when you want, touch, take pictures, slap, kill, hurt anyone women you want. They will give you a slap on the wrist and it will be over in two months. Now go boy, find another beer for papa.

Wow, TheGuyNextDoor, when looking how things work here, you would think its like

drinking? are they sure? they might want to check. he might be unemployed or stressed out at his boss. it's facts like these that can make or break a case and determine how much suspended time/how deep the apology bow should be before letting the scamp on his way

Ok metal bat to head...no serious injury. Was this a glance or where did it strike her on the head. Guessing she still has all her teeth. Maybe the chick is crying wolf, cause when a grown man takes a weapon to ya, ya gonna be down. He don't have to be huge, but a metal bat, c'mon.

GuyNextDoor- that is not how they all are. Some like to stay cuddled with mommy for their entire lives not being able to make decisions and marrying Chinese women so they can live a better lifestyle. Saw a documentary on the news.

Matsuoka has denied the allegations, and told police he had been drinking.

So, he had been drinking? Well, that's OK then. No offense committed. It's so wierd in Japan. Where I come from, if you commit a serious offense while drunk the severity of the offense is increased, however, in Japan the severity of an offense is lessened and even justified by being drunk. More pathetiquette!

He was just practising baseball, what a twat

Fascinating, isn't it?

I wish the story was more descriptive about "hit". I mean, did he wind up and wail or was it a little tap to get her attention? And, just where to the head? There's all sorts of ways this could be and it really determines the severity of the case, which starts first at "idiot man assaults young girl."

". . . denied . . . drinking . . ." These seem to go hand in hand. We need more information so we can make intelligent responses.

It could have been serious pain without serious injury. It happens. The skull is hard thank goodness. She may have been dodging as the bat hit, such that her head was moving away from the bat as it was coming, just the bat was a little faster. Lots of possibilities.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ahhh... he was drinking. That makes it perfectly acceptable then.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

crotch bat.

Drinking? I hope it wasn't Russian cold medicine!

Why were they at the car park? Was the man trying to tell the girl to get back together with his son?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This sort of violence is all over TV here - but just because the perpetrators usually wear bright yellow suits and funny glasses people find it acceptable.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

likeitis, meant I wanted more descriptions in the story, how about we try this. She was hit in the backside too. The kid is 15 and I am gonna guess she is not hefty, cause if she was that skull would of really cracked cause she ain't dodging and more than likely that bat would of hurt them hips. I know how hard a skull is, but I also no it does not take too much to break it or mess up what it is protecting. Now if she is small, a full swing of a metal bat to the backside would of messed her up for life depending where it landed. Again, maybe he was just poking her, I don't know, do you? More details please.

Why do these freaks always claim, "but I was drinking"? Then don't drink, dammit! Are the laws in Japan written with the disclaimer, "...unless you were drinking"? This guy's a slug and ought to do time.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Its in really small print on the cans/bottles/one-cups etc..., says you have the right to drink and do what you want, when confronted by the law, you must state "I am drunk or have been drinking, I'm sorry and it wasn't me" seems to work out just fine.

Excellent. Can do anything when drunk in Japan. Unless foreign.

Excellent. Can do anything when drunk in Japan. Unless foreign.

Listen up people. Just because this joker is making the excuse DOES NOT mean the courts are going to be lenient on him. OKAY? Stop passing judgment on all of Japan for the mouth of this dimwit. PLEASE! He does not represent anything but a minority of twits in the human race, and they reside all over the globe.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Must have gone something like this..."I didn't do it...I was drinking..."

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It is true that in Japan being drunk doesn't seem to be looked down upon and is an excuse for all sorts of bad behaviour; but not crime. But I'm not so sure the courts are going to give the guy a break. If they do it will be because the girl wasn't seriously injured. I guess the guy was so drunk he couldn't balance well enough to get a good swing in. That's the only good news here.

A 55 year old man hit a 15 year old girl with a metal bat? It is called assault with a deadly weapon. I realize some posters here may be "joking" about the nature of the attack, but you shouldn't joke about adult on child violence. How mildly/seriously she was injured and how effective/ineffective his drunken attack, it does not mitigate the nature of the attack. A metal bat can cause permanent injuries like brain damage or even death.

We definitely need more details. If it was his son's ex-girlfriend, how did he find her at the carpark? Did he follow her there or wait by her car? Did he bring the bat from home (premeditation) or get it some other way? You don't just walk around Ube-shi with a bat at 8:30 p.m.

DoctorLady, Good points.

That is some sturdy girl! I am not joking. I am completely serious. I mean, it was a metal bat!

DoctorLady,

I agree. Good points. This was deadly assault, plain and simple.

I say the same stuff up above and I get ridiculed, which happens on JT anyway, but when someone with the name doctor in fron of their SN says it, it is gospel. Awesome. lol.

55 yr old drunkard hits son's ex GF with bat.

IMHO drinking is Japan's real problem, not drug abuse or smoking pot.

sageb1 - I could not agree with you more. That should be an article in here.

accused of hitting the girl in the head

was not seriously injured.

Are they joking....?

It's easier to kill or cripple somebody with a baseball bat than with a gun.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

why on earth would be care about his son's love life? or correction, why on earth should he care?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

was she a stalker of his son? needed to teach her a lesson as she is freaking out the current GF
