According to police, the incident occurred at the woman’s house at around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Hokkaido Broadcasting Corp reported. The woman called police and said her boyfriend had assaulted her by throwing a smartphone at her.

Police said the woman was bleeding from a facial wound when they arrived at the scene.

Police said the man told them he and his partner got into an argument while he was trying to configure the smartphone and that he lost his temper and threw it at her, but he denied assaulting her.

Police said they had been called to the residence once before over trouble between the couple.

A smartphone thrown at a person..

In national headlines..

Proving again, again and again, that Japan is one of the safest countries to live in the world..

He couldn't take the nagging ... he needs to learn to count to 10 ... or 100.

Also, why is he an unemployed 35-year old man, but she's just a 55-year old partner.

Is she employed / unemployed, or is it unimportant that we know their employment situation?

WOW a 35-year-old unemployed man having a 55-year-old partner and he threw a smartphone at her at her home and this was not the first time he assaulted her. I think the phone was much smarter than she was keeping the bum around for so long. Perhaps the phone was saying leave him and he got up set and threw the phone at her. LMFAO!!!

I will tell you from experience that if a man calls the police for a woman assaulting you and throwing a phone at your face the police will do absolutely nothing.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense, not!

I think he's innocent. The guy sounds so incompetent that if he intended to hit her with the phone he would have missed. He must have been aiming for the wall or something and missed that.

So many labor shortages in Japan, why is 35 year old man unemployed with time on his hand to assault his partner?

A 35 year old 'man' with an obvious mommy complex, likely living off his 55 year old nanny.

Seems like the thrown phone should have been flying in the opposite direction.

The so-called 'smartphone' is not smart; it is dumb, an inanimate object, and it does not enrich our lives...

I have so many questions: you can injure somebody with a smartphone? A 35-year old man is dating a 55-year-old woman? As Seinfeld said, "she'd have to be so vibrant, she'd be spinning".

Police in Sapporo have arrested a 35-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of injuring his 55-year-old partner by throwing a smartphone at her.

Unemployed man throwing a smartphone to his more than 20 year-older female "partner".

he was trying to configure the smartphone and that he lost his temper and threw it at her

Perhaps that the reason why he's being unemployed.
