Police in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, have arrested a 24-year-old man for vandalism after he kicked a police motorcycle that was parked next to a koban (police box).
According to police, Kenji Tomioka, whose occupation is unknown, kicked the motorbike over beside the koban in Tama Ward’s Noborito neighborhood at around 1:40 a.m. on Dec 28, Sankei Shimbun reported. One of the rearview mirrors was broken, causing damage worth about 18,000 yen. The bike belonged to an officer who had come to the koban in response to an emergency call.
Tomioka emerged as a suspect when he was seen on surveillance camera footage. He was quoted by police as saying he had no recollection of the incident because he was drunk.© Japan Today
