Apparently you can no longer listen to music whilst riding a bicycle... yet you can text whilst walking around ignoring everyone and everything around you ?
FabiusLips
Can you explain that for the non-weebtastic audience? Not everyone spends all day memorizing Hatsune Miku lyrics ya know...
sensei258
Especially since many high-ranking Yakuzas have "retired" and gone on to hold high posts in the government

So an accident occurred probably because the girl was looking at her phone instead of focusing on where she going - A lot of people get angry over this, happens all over the world.
maninjpn
No no no guys. Maybe he said he's a "yakuzaishi". And showed the girl a tattoo of "Matsumoto Kiyoshi" out of company pride. :-)

Either she was walking in the street or he was riding on the pavement. so already one of them wrong. agree folks not looking where they are going is annoying. Equally people riding bicycles with little care for pedestrians is also commonplace. The tattoo showing and kick are a bit odd though. likely will just be mild reprimand though.

Soichi shows his tattoo and declares he's badass to yell at a lady...
Then we find out he is 55 and not 15...?
She may have been in the wrong even, but he's gone and made it all about him, and that turned out to be bad.
NCIS Reruns
Hurrah! It's great to see sane people rising up against the infestation of zombies! I was trying to disembark from a bus yesterday and the man going down the step in front of me was doing something on his phone, so I said in a loud voice (that I'm sure was heard by all the other passengers, Keitai asobi wo yamete kure! (Stop playing with your phone). He did. People memorize that line. You have a right and duty to complain.
Toasted Heretic
Well, there are those who who act all gangster... anyway; guy's an idiot whether or not the habit of using a smartphone is annoying.
Wakarimasen
Hehe. I wonder if he was also a JT user - given the high levels of annoyance on here at walking and looking at keitai.
Alex Einz
2 points extremely important, was he riding on sidewalk or she was on the road.
If he was riding on the sidewalk, throw a book on him..
if she was blindly swerving on actual road... not sure about kicking but she definitely deserved a stern warning..
in any case, while this incident highlights 2 major issues in japan, cyclists not understanding that they ALWAYS should give the right or way to pedestrians and the phone zombies.
DaDude
Exactly! We have space to move and don't live on top of each other. I would be annoyed every day too like some of the JT posters that vent their frustrations here every day.
I didn't realize Yakuza rode bicycles. I thought it was their thing to have tinted out white Benzes with ...1 as their plate number.
Yubaru
Being a yakuza is not illegal. The yakuza groups themselves are not illegal either.
Mocheake
Although I seriously understand this guy's frustration, kicking someone is bad form. If some smarphone zombie is coming my way, I usually elbow the hell out of them or throw my arm or shoulder out in front of me.

Is this what your talking about ?
Unless I missed something, measures have been taken against yakuza activities, but just BEING one isn't technically illegal.
lucabrasi
Maybe he was going to say "I'm a yakuzaru."
Same level of intelligence, but different in terms of legality....
Kimrox
If she would have stepped in front of the bike coz not paying attention and got injured then the blame would be on the bicycle rider,,, can see people walking and looking their mobil but not paying attention to others or traffic and in case of accident it's the drivers fault,,, wrong world
Dango bong
oh man pleeeeeease kick me
Disillusioned
Being a member of a crime syndicate was made illegal in Japan 5 or 6 years ago.
TheGodfather
Perfectly illustrating his infantile nature...
Well done to the woman for reporting it!!
Bintaro
@Disillusioned
What Yakuzas are doing is illegal, but as far as I know, just being one is not.
Disillusioned
Shouldn't he be arrested for admitting to be a member of a crime syndicate? It's 'supposed to be' illegal. Also, not that anybody would know, riding a bicycle on the sidewalk is also illegal. Just another cowardly Japanese bully picking on someone who won't fight back.
Mike L
So glad I live in (relatively) rural Japan. The cities seem to be brimming with these nutters.

Says the self-identified Yakuza who resorts to violence whenever he doesn't get his own way. Pot, meet Kettle.
Blattamexiguus
Seems to be a recent spate of this type of angry old man deliberately targeting people using smartphones.
surley there is something else for them to get obsessively annoyed about.
Jack Frost
Old man: "This is Sparta...!!!!!!!" Then he kicks her...
