Man arrested for kidnapping teenage girl he met on social media

Niigata Prefectural Police said Wednesday they have arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of abducting a teenage girl whom he met on a social media website.

Police allege that Ryosuke Fujioka, a company employee from Tokyo’s Adachi Ward, used a social media site to lure the teenager, who lives in Niigata City, to come to Tokyo and meet up in person, Sankei Shimbun reported. After meeting the girl, Fujioka confined her for nearly a week between Jan 11 and 19 in Tokyo.

The incident came to light after the girl’s family filed a missing person’s report with police. Police said the girl was not harmed.

These predators using social media to lure young girls are not as severely punished as they should be in Japan. In Australia they face seven years in jail and go on a sexual offender’s list. This creep will be lucky to see any jail time at all.

Monitor your kids online activity. My kids have flip phones with no internet for this reason. The sickos are creative.

The girl is just as much to blame, she willingly went there

I hope she is ok. After a week of confinement, she could be permanently scarred.

I do not understand how the man could have done such a thing. Has he no compassion?

Can't fathom what he could have said or done to make her take that long trip to Tokyo just to meet up. This isn't an unusual type of occurrence these days but I 'd still ike to know why she made such a horrendous decision

What could he possibly want from a teenage girl? They would have nothing to talk about.

what all creepy Japanese men who kidnap little girls want, sex. I’m sure he raped her and that news will come out later. He’ll also get no jail time after he pays off the family.

It's been awhile since one of these articles have popped up.

What's not mentioned is whether or not he disclosed his age to her or if he was a guy. It just says that he used a social media site to lure a teenage girl.

He could have pretended to be a teenage boy (or girl) to gain her confidence.

But it is curious as to what he said (or did) to convince her to go to Tokyo by herself to meet up with him. She should also consider herself very lucky.

Anyway, the guy is a predator (aka: scum) and needs to be locked up.

The guy is a creep, but people should keep some perspective. The teenager is not a child, and she travelled to Tokyo by herself. Of course she should not have been so gullible.

She's a teenager, and teenagers' brains are not yet fully formed, and they haven't the kind of life experience which helps weigh up or understand the consequences of decisions. And these adult men who are into little girls are also very good at feeding them lies, grooming them, and convincing them to do whatever it is they wants them to do. These men are predators, and they are very practiced at this.

I'm quite often surprised by comments like these, which seem to assume that teenagers, whether male or female, think like adults, weigh decision like adults, understand the consequences of their actions like adults, and have the life experience of adults to guide them, so therefore are responsible for their actions.

But they are just kids - and any parent with a teenager can tell you that they do dumb stuff all the time, and it's the responsibility of the adults around them warn them away from and protect them from their own lack of rationality.

And when an adult persuades a kid to do something stupid, careless, or illegal, it's not the kid that's responsible. A teen's responsibility only goes so far. This man is the one at fault, is fully responsible for his decisions, and is the one that should be getting the blame. The kid doesn't need recrimination; she needs a hot cup of tea and lots of hugs, because no doubt she will never even think about doing something like this ever again.

According to bigthink.com, The human brain isn't fully developed until 25 years of age. Shouldn't we raise the age of consent?

Just a friendly reminder that when you say misogynistic things about women in news stories, the women you are degrading don't hear you - but other women do: women who might be your mother, daughters, sisters, or aunts. Women who might be your co-workers or your friends. If you care anything about the women in your lives, you'll work to make yourself a better man.

How old are we talking? 19 is still a teenager. I feel like that information would be detrimental to this story and other people's comments. At 19, she can make her own rational decision to go somewhere for a week with a stranger and weather she should contact her parents during her time there. (quite sure she has a phone). He should also be put on a peadophile list for grooming and whatever he did.
