It is possible that did lend some $ to the girl then he couldn't collect as usual!!!!

There’s always two side’s to a story. Perhaps she owed the guy money she borrowed. I believed she knew him because she didn’t try to get away from him especially while in public. I think she called her mom and that’s where the story got twisted to a kidnapping.

the young woman needed $40,000 for ‘something’;

mom either refused to give in

and/or,

the young woman knew mom would never agree;

the young woman & her ‘kidnapper/assailant’ previously met online;

the plan took another direction when he didn’t get what was offered/agreed upon;

“punched her in the face”

to show her he meant ‘business’ ?

or

to make their ‘story’ look good ?

“drove some of the way and took the Shinkansen the rest of the way”

- the plan changed and ‘time’ became a major factor

he/they phoned mom from his Yokohama apartment ?—

his/her/their ‘plan’ really turned sour when mom was still not going for ‘it’.

so, . . .

“demanded ‘ransom’ ”

Result:

“The mother called police in Sendai. Police found Inoue and the woman on the evening of Nov 1.

Police said Inoue claimed that he lent money to the woman but denied asking for ransom money

Epilogue:

The prosecutor will choose “not to prosecute, for non-disclosed reasons”

He then forced her into his car, punched her in the face, and drove some of the way and took a shinkansen the rest of the way to his apartment in Yokohama.

I do not get this. It is not like the Shinkansen has a private compartment and leads directly to his apartment. So many people must have seen the two, it should have been easy for her to attract attention.

There is probably more to this story than what we get here. Otherwise, why would a person from Yokohama go all the way to "kidnap" a person in Sendai, travel with her on a train, etc. etc.? Did they know each other? That is the first question the journalist should ask.

So I'm Gonna assume that he (Inoue) got on the Shinkansen with the girl AND she couldn't yell for HELP while on the platform or on the train .... Something does not seem right with this story ....

Now he hopefully sees something else than the lent money. Can’t they behave like humans and think first a bit, treating the borrowers better , giving advise, help or ideas, and so enabling them to paying back loans faster? With threats, beating and all that it cannot work. It only delays and makes them into criminals.

How did people and the station staff not realize the woman was being coerced to get on the Shinkansen?? Surely they must have seen her banged up face and possible manhandling to get her own the train. Japanese with their heads in the sand like ostriches strike again I see.
