Man arrested for killing 16-year-old girl in Yokohama guesthouse

Police in Yokohama have arrested a 36-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of killing a 16-year-old girl in a room at a guesthouse on Wednesday.

At around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, the suspect, Kenji Yokoyama called 119 from the room where he resides and said, “When I woke up, the girl was dead," Fuji TV reported.

However, police said Yokoyama is suspected of strangling Isaki Ota to death after the autopsy revealed that she died of suffocation.

After being arrested, Yokoyama was quoted as saying, “I strangled her but I did not intend to kill her."

Police said Ota's mother contacted them after her daughter did not return home on Tuesday night.

It is believed that Yokoyama and Ota knew each other, and police are investigating how they met and the motive for the murder.

I strangled her but I did not intend to kill her.”

I shot her but I didn't mean to kill her

I stabbed her but I didn't mean to kill her

I threw her of a cliff but I didn't mean to kill her

Dumbest excuse EVER!

First: What is up with all these "Unemployed" 30+ basterds!? Second: “I strangled her but I did not intend to kill her.” Get the hell out of here with that BS! I hope this guy gets his ass kicked mercilessly for eternity!

what is a guesthouse? a short-stay hotel or something?

guilt made him call the police, but then he couldn't tell them the truth? sounds like the girl said "no," and he lost it.

This happened at a flophouse (kani-shukuhakujo, 簡易宿泊所) in Yokohama's Kotobukicho district which is known as a slum area where a lot of day laborers live. They normally rent a room and all the residents share bathroom/shower facilities.

Kotobukicho is nearby Ishikawacho Station, on the other side of the tracks from Yokohama's Chinatown.

Here is video reporting the crime with footage of the flophouse: http://news.cube-soft.jp/archive/55247.html

She said no and hurt his pride! That does not compute in his little head so he lost it and strangled her. Pathetic attempt at excuses by a pathetic male.

Fingers crossed for a heavy sentence and RIP young lady.

"I strangled her but I did not intend to kill her.”

Yeah, right! Hindsight is quite clear isn't it? You killed her and you will spend the next five to ten years in a prison. Get used to it weasel!

Whole lotta speculation going on.

@Peace Out

None of you have ever grabbed someone by the throat or something similar, with no intent to kill?

I think I speak for all reasonable human beings when I answer your question with a 'no'.

. I cannot see much possibility the girl did something to deserve being strangled even if not fatally. But, you never know. If she had been trying to blackmail him....

WTF? Are telling me it would be okay for a grown man to strangle a young girl to death, as long as he felt justified because of something she said? What rock did you crawl out from under?

I went to Japan last week to see my four and a half year old daughter. It was 09:00 last Saturday morning but she was not in. The mother was at work... the grandparents were in the house but the child was not there...

What we are talking about in Japan is INSTITUTIONALIZED CHILD ABUSE... :-(

More often than not, its fantasying....

She wanted a new Louis Vuitton bag for compensated dating him, he said no, she threatened to tell, he killed her.

Blah Blah don't blame the victim but WTF was doing dating a guy old enough to be her father?

What part of that is "don't blame the victim?"

"Assisted dating"?

Sad. Maybe they met each other online?

Is it possible that this is a case of choke-sex gone awry? Not that "choke" makes it better, but "strangle" makes it worse and signals intent. Choking during sex isn't a turn-on for me for precisely this reason, but it's showing up a lot more in porn scenes than it used to.

It's possible. As I alluded to in an earlier post, I used to date a girl who was into being choked. It wasn't really my thing, but she liked it.

@Argus Tuft I think you might be speaking for all people who missed the words "or something similar"?

You are talking about physically lashing out when angry.

As reasonable people exercise self-control when they are angry, my answer to your question stands.

People say, although I don't know personally, that chocking during an orgasm makes it much more intense because the brain is hypoxic. Trouble is, do it too long and you die. That's what happened to David Carradine of Kung Fu fame. He accidentally hung himself in a closet in Thailand.

Maybe they were having some rough asphyxiation sex...? and she couldnt say the code word because she was being strangled...

@sensei258 The answer to why she was dating someone old enough to be her father is in your statement.

She wanted a new Louis Vuitton bag for compensated dating him, he said no, she threatened to tell, he killed her.

What part of that is "don't blame the victim?"

@Commodore Shmidlap (Retired) The missing part that still insists he be punished the same as if none of that ever happened.

To truly blame the victim, you must insist the perpetrator have no blame or at least reduced blame. I don't see anybody doing that.

And I don't see why appeals for young women to protect themselves is being interpreted as blaming them for what happens to them. Some would have us throw good advice down the drain so that victims can feel better about themselves. But an ounce of prevention is still worth a pound of cure.

@ Peace out

"I think I speak for all reasonable human beings...." " I cannot see much possibility the girl did something to deserve being strangled even if not fatally. But, you never know. If she had been trying to blackmail him...." These are not the comments of a reasonable human! Please go self pollinate.

" Hang 'em HIGH ".

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

@sensei258 Yeah, I thought someone might come along and fail to read carefully.

No to what you said.. What I said is that I can see why someone who was being blackmailed might grab someone by the throat and start strangling them without intending to kill, but they die anyway.

And no, blackmail is not about what someone said. Its about destroying your family life and your career or taking all your life savings, and that can be done without the victim having done anything at all. Blackmailers can and do make up stories.

Now, lest someone go astray again, I am not saying blackmail was involved. But if it was, telling the police and press about it might not help him.

I think I speak for all reasonable human beings when I answer your question with a 'no'

@Argus Tuft I think you might be speaking for all people who missed the words "or something similar"? Or perhaps all the people who have very short or very selective memories? Or just the very sheltered? So you have never been in a fight, even one started by someone else, or you never bothered to defend yourself? You never hit anyone out of anger? Even your child and teen years were violence free, or you just stood there and took a beating by some bully?

I didn't exactly grow up in the rough part of town, but it was rather rural. There seemed to be a fight of some sort at least every two weeks. As my user name implies, I am a peaceful man and committed to peace. But I got to tell you, I am no push over. Mess with this bull, you might get some horns. But I guess the other thing about me is that I am honest. Even brutally honest. Even with myself. And yeah, I have seen a lot of people caught red-handed denying they did anything "anti-social".

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

None of you have ever grabbed someone by the throat or something similar, with no intent to kill?

I once grabbed a kid by the throat who rammed his fingers up my butt. I lost it on him. If I were a lesser person it would have taken more time to let go. But in that moment of rage, I could have damaged his windpipe and he might have died.

In fact, I did not want to kill him. I just wanted to beat the hell out of him.

That said, I find it unlikely I will feel sorry for him if he does go to jail for murder even if he didn't mean it. I cannot see much possibility the girl did something to deserve being strangled even if not fatally. But, you never know. If she had been trying to blackmail him....
