Police in Nakama, Fukuoka Prefecture, said Monday they have arrested a 61-year-old man on suspicion of fatally stabbing an 86-year-old man at his home on Jan 1.
The victim's body was found by a friend on Jan 3.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Takahide Fujioka, stabbed Sachio Ayado to death after an argument involving money that Fujioka had borrowed from Ayado.
Fuji TV reported that Fujioka lived near Ayado and that the men would often go out drinking together. Neighbors said Fujioka was a frequent visitor to Ayado's house.
Fujioka was quoted by police as saying that he was drunk and quarreled with Ayado on New Year's Day and that he stabbed him in the chest. He told police he threw the weapon away.
Fujioka's relatives were quoted by local media that whenever he became drunk, he became aggressive and was a completely different person.

The old Romans used to say " In vino veritas " meaning that drunk people reveal their true state of mind. I can only assume that, because of his loneliness, the victim was sort of trapped into this "friendship" .

These geezers just keep going at it. Murdering one another, spouse on spouse or people mad about a money owed. A new slogan should be created- "Old Japanese lives matter."

So, he is a good boy? Because he drinks too much, gets drunk only to misbehave. These kinds of things should not be said. At the same time the way it is said almost making Mr Fujioka as a victim rather than the Mr Ayado (86) year old man.
