The stay home, living off the parents generation.

You seem to be implying that killing one’s parents is something new to this generation.

Here we go again another unemployed individual killing a family member. I know that being unemployed in Japan gives you a low standing in a society that thrives on working to better yourself and the stress of being unemployed is hard for some to accept. But killing a family member does not make things better. Granted we don't the facts behind this murder but perhaps a few stiff drinks and long walk could have helped this guy feel better.  If you've noticed quite a lot of these family murders have been committed by an unemployed member of the family. Get a Job, Get laid, Get drunk and chill the puck out. STOP THE KILLING.

Rewind and repeat. There has been a family murder reported every day for months on end. “Kasumigaseki, we have a problem!”

Welcome to planet earth. In a population of 130 million, this will happen.

your context seems to imply that there are only 130 million people on the Earth

Well, context would imply I was speaking of Japan, on a story about Japan, on a site about Japan, when Japan has 130 million. That said, my grammar was unclear, and seems to imply that the population of earth is only 130 million.

How terrible. The son not only terminated hid dad's life but has caused his mum untold grief and will probably spend the rest of his own life in prison. What a terrible waste.

Anger, bitterness and rage never solve our problems and can lead to sad incidents like this.

The pattern I've seen is dad wants son to leave and support himself but mom intervenes worried about poor junior.

Clearly you've learned nothing about living in Japan.
