Man arrested for killing father with ax in Miyagi

Police on Thursday arrested a 28-year-old man for killing his 56-year-old father with an ax at their home in Taiwa, Miyagi Prefecture. Naoki Asano was arrested for allegedly killing his father Masakichi by hitting his head with an ax around 1:55 p.m. while he was sleeping. The victim was taken to hospital after the suspect's mother, 54, called an ambulance. He died about five hours later.

Asano left his home by car, telling his mother he planned to turn himself in at a local police station. But police tracked him to Sendai where he was arrested.

Police said the victim worked a night shift and had returned home shortly before 10 a.m.

This is a very sad story indeed! I was just watching this news in Japanese on tv, the accused son said he felt as if here just hitting a doll (but in actuallity he was killing his own father) who knows what this 28 year old son's mental capicity is. Just in case, let Hatoyama san deal with him!

What is this with Sendai and Miyagi, are they trying to beat out a certain prefecture beginning with "S" that borders on Tokyo as the loony capital of Japan? Dad was working the night shift, anyone want to lay bets on the profession of the son? I reckon "unemployed" is the odds-on favorite.

Its always someone living at home with his/her parents. Why don't some of these losers move out?

The news gave no intention on the part of the son. The police seem to not know of one either at this time. Could judt be a neet or freet nutter who didn't like the fact pops told him to pick up his socks, or get a haircut and a real job.

Was accused man watching American Indian movie? One more for death row. Will he hang for his crime or will he get life behind the bars. He must be on drugs, some screws in his brains should be adjusted.

Again Family Killings! Japanese seems like having a very weak sense of family values. I remember an incident when i used to work for a company in yokohama. I was the only foreigner in that company and my performace was also upto the mark. One day, i was a bit disturbed bec of some family quarelling back home. My manager realized my condition and asked me about the matter. I told him about my familys situation back home. And he asked me with a grim face Is your family more important than the company you work for? For us our company is more important than anything else. So concentrate on your work`. Unbelieveable response. And i resigned the next day.

Nidu, I respect your decision to place family before company. I have done the same on occasion. However, I don't believe for a moment that Japanese "like having a very weak sense of family values." It is impossible to draw conclusions from one incident -- whom among us know what problems were existant within this particular family?

The news did not mention why the son axed his father. It is true that the son committed a crime regardless of the reason, but first ask why he did it before you condemn him. Perhaps the father abused him? Perhaps the father beats the mother and the son had enough of it?
