Man arrested for killing his 2 teenage children

Police on Tuesday arrested a 49-year-old man on suspicion of stabbing to death his two teenage children at their home in Mihara, Hiroshima Prefecture.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Masamichi Nakasone, a company employee, called 110 at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and reported that he had stabbed his two children to death. Fuji TV reported that emergency services and police rushed to the scene and found the two children -- his 17 year-old daughter Haruka and his 13-year-old son Masaya -- bleeding from stab wounds. They were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Police said Nakasone was found with stab wounds to his stomach and believe he tried to commit suicide. He is in a stable condition in hospital, Fuji quoted police as saying.

Nakasone was recently separated from his wife and looking after their two children. His boss at work was quoted as saying he had not appeared well recently and was stressed out, while a neighbor said that he seemed to be a wonderful father.

Police said they will wait for Nakasone to recover before questioning him.

According to your comment, we can conclude that every person who murdered someone (and I suppose you are including anyone who has killed, accidentally or otherwise, in this simple definition of yours too) would receive the same punishment, regardless of the nature, intent, circumstances or severity of their crime.

Self defense aside, yes there is no justification for murder, no matter what the situation.

I don't care how stress you are, you have no right to murder anybody, let alone, your own children! That is plain disgusting and cowardly.

If that's the case, basically everyone in japan have experience some sort of stress....get your knives out and have a field day!!

gogogo -

No it is not MURDER is MURDER no matter the situation leading upto it.

If It was so that murder was murder, and that was it, they wouldn't have things like a differentiation between 1st and 2nd degree murder in law. Or manslaughter for that matter.

You are very naive if you think it is that simple. I think you know its not. If it was we would have no need for a legal system at all.

Fadamor - your right - I don't kill my children. Mentally stable people do not.

The same way that mentally stable people don't kill their parents, siblings, or random people in the street. Not assigning my values to anyone, but you just have to look at some of the other comments on some of the other (many) "mother kills children" or "son stabs parent" news items to see that its not just me.

If this was the other way around (a mother who had killed her 2 kids and was claiming it was because she was stressed) we would have lots of people jumping to defend her (probably myself included in this), and saying how hard it is to be a single mother, etc.

While you might defend a woman in that situation, don't try and assign your values to anyone else. Just because it would be a mother instead of a father doesn't change things one bit. You don't kill your children - for ANY reason.

all these ppl talking w/ no idea of the facts... who knows what was going on with him?

my first thought was debt. a lot of suicides are a result of debt, when there is no way to get out of it, and things seem bleak, and you can't even care for your children anymore, then you are no longer a man...

mebbe vengeance against wife?

But the thing is, someone who decides to go and kill someone just for the fun of it, and someone who is at the end of their rope because of a very stressful life is a completely different thing.

No it is not MURDER is MURDER no matter the situation leading upto it.

Yea gogogo... Obviously Its not right. Thats why I said

There is never an excuse for a crime like this,

But the thing is, someone who decides to go and kill someone just for the fun of it, and someone who is at the end of their rope because of a very stressful life is a completely different thing.

Some of you are getting to wraped up is anout the "stress" comment. That's just what his boss said. How the heck you equate what his boss said to a conclusion about this guys mental state is amazing. He was depressed IMO.

Sad ending to two lives that were so precious from the start.

The news said he was planning on returning to Okinawa. He should have returned 'home' with his children sooner.

Hell no, that is the problem with Japan, courts side with people saying they were stressed and that is why they killed them. No court or ANYONE should side with ANYONE killing someone. There is no justification what-so-ever for killing someone, if you are stressed killing someone is NOT A SOLUTION!

I can´t wrap my head around it. They are his children. His future. And while teenagers can be a lot of stress, they will be out of the house in a few short years. Kill them??? Why??

interuni,

You make no sense. First you say that we are just helpless slaves of the chemical processes in our brains. If they malfunction, then so be it. He couldn't help himself.

Then you turn around and say "That said if this turns out to be revenge against the ex-wife rather than insanity, he should be shown no mercy."

Now you are acting as if he could have done something differently and somehow overcame what his brain was telling him to do.

You can't have it both ways. If you think people are helpless slaves of their brain functions, then how can they be held accountable for their actions. Neither good actions nor bad actions have any meaning or deserve any praise or criticism. Things are just the way they are.

But as you yourself show, no one can live in accord with this atheistic view of human nature. What this shows us is that this atheistic view of human nature is wrong. We do actually have a choice to make and we can and should be held responsible for our actions.

If you want to think of yourself as nothing more than a bag of chemicals that is controlled by those chemical processes in your brain, fine, but don't force that unprovable worldview on our justice system. It will ruin us for sure!

The truth is brains are just complex computers, they malfunction and frankly any result is sadly possible. Until people wake up to that reality this kind of thing is going to keep happening, because everyone will think, oh he's a caring father, he could never do anything like that.... That said if this turns out to be revenge against the ex-wife rather than insanity, he should be shown no mercy.

Rest in peace, Haruka and Masaya Nakasone.

May Heaven welcome you.

Finally free...

Mikune, using stress as an excuse to commit murder is ridiculous, millions of people have stress everyday that manage not to commit murder. This guy is getting no sympathy from me and I hope they throw him in jail for the rest of his life. Seriously, I have stress and have experienced some crazy stress while in the military earlier in my life and I highly doubt this individual had anyone trying to kill him on a daily basis to give him stress. I feel bad for the kids this guy can rot for all I care.

Idle speculation here, but maybe if Japan accepted the concept of joint custody many incidents like this would be prevented.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

DudeDeuce is spot on. My first reaction to reading this was, Whoa, a dude actually got custody of his kids? Great!! And alas, he kills them because he can't handle the stress of raising them. Gee, thanks for taking fathers arguing for custody rights one-step back and giving the archaic Japanese family law system more fodder to give mothers the benefit of the doubt. Oh, and second, I thought RIP.

Mikune Hara is right. i drink alot cause of stress =___= sux. plus the fact that japan has terrible psychologist practices not cool. stress messes up your brain. and maybe it wasn't even stress. it could have been that plus another mental disorder. anyways, R.I.P

Now wait a moment.

If this was the other way around (a mother who had killed her 2 kids and was claiming it was because she was stressed) we would have lots of people jumping to defend her (probably myself included in this), and saying how hard it is to be a single mother, etc.

There is never an excuse for a crime like this, but surely you all must see that for a guy who has been a father for 17 years to suddenly and unexplainedly snap like this, something had to be very wrong?

Being a single parent is HARD, and sadly in Japan there are not enough resources (financial, mental, emotional) to help support them. I suspect what has probably happened, is that mom was a SAHM all her life, Dad thought it looked "easy" from his company employee position job. He takes the kids, finds its not easy at all, and flips.

My question is - where was the mother? Why wasn't she helping out with her own children?

(I would ask this too, about the father, if the situation was reversed. IMO people who divorce then decide they never want to see their kids again, are the lowest of the low, and it goes on all too much in Japan.)

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Good Father or not he shouldn't taker on his children.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I don't care under what pressure or stress you are you don't kill your children! If he wanted to end it then start with himself first!

GOOD MORNING JAPAN! Another day another child (or children) dead at the hands of a parent. They could run this article every day and just change the names, ages and places.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

RIP. Most evil done to children is done in the name of love. In his twisted view this might just be true... but how can anyone justify harming a child is beyond me!!

What a sad story. RIP kids!!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The biggest danger in Japan is your own family and the government doesn't punish you for it.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

My five children have sometimes made me really angry, especially the teenage triplet girls. My job can sometimes be a source of stress. Despite all that I have never taken out my anger/relieved stress on the children. I just cannot understand how someone can do this. Maybe if the kids were like Eric Harris or Dylan Klebold, but even then I do not think I could kill them.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Take this pitiful excuse of a man out behind the wood shed..put him on his knees......you know the rest.

RIP kids.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Thanks to this guy, men getting child custody after divorce will change from 1% to -1%

7 ( +7 / -0 )

RIP Haruka and Masaya , you may rest in peace.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

He might have been a good father but Stress makes people crazy.

A good father who murders his children? Such absurd reasoning could exist only in Japan...

6 ( +13 / -7 )

@Matthew you wouldnt beleave what kind of problems stress can cause. He might have been a good father but Stress makes people crazy. RIP Haruka and Masaya you will be missed.
