Police in Azumino, Nagano Prefecture, said Monday they have arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of killing his wife by beating her with a hammer.
According to police, Masaya Matsuda turned up at a police station at around 12:10 a.m. Monday and said he had killed his 34-year-old wife Naomi at their home, Fuji TV reported.
Police went to the home and found the woman's body under the floorboards.
Matsuda was quoted by police as saying he killed his wife by hitting her head with a hammer at around 4 p.m. Sunday. A bloodstained hammer was found in the house.
Matsuda and his wife lived with their two children who were out on Sunday afternoon.

So terribly sad, the kids will now get passed around family for the rest of their adolescent lives. Hiding her under the floorboards after killing too. Poor woman. RIP.

Marriage can drive people to do crazy things.

Imagine the pent-up rage you must have to repeatedly bludgeon someone to death amid their screams etc....and to keep going and going.

I can't even imagine the mental process involved in this act.

divorce her take the kids, she can have more would have sufficed if he wasn't happy with her. No reason for killing. Now the family members are left with the burden to care of kids.

Thinking of the emotional shock to the two children in particular, the father has perpetrated what he should not have done whatsoever. RIP to Naomi-san.

This is just sick... I can't imagine what would make anyone batter their wife's brains in with a hammer. Did she ask him where he had been or something? Was he bored with her? poor woman... and I feel for her poor kids. Unreal.

It must be a very personal related incident. He used a hammer which tells a lot about how he felt before committing this horrible crime. Something must have gone wrong for the couple but that does not justify this killing. Lock him up for good.

Japan may have low violent crime rates, but those that do happen seem to use ultraviolence: hammers, hatchets, swords, metal bars/poles... it's like a switch is flicked and normal people suddenly act like something from a Beat Takeshi movie. It's so shocking. It's no wonder that I worry about my ex and her son... he could turn in a moment simply because he's asked to do something like close a fridge door.

If this what ordinary Japanese do, I wonder what the JAPANESE SERIAL KILLERS do...
