Man arrested for molesting student on her way to school

Police in Tokyo's Setagaya Ward said Tuesday they have arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of molesting a girl by riding up behind her on a bike and groping her.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Yoshihito Samejima, rode up behind the girl in October as she was walking to school. Police said Samejima touched the girl's breasts and buttocks and then rode off.

Meanwhile, TV Asahi reported that Samejima had been arrested two weeks earlier for a similar offense concerning a 20-year-old woman but was released after the charge was dropped.

Police are questioning Samejima over 10 similar cases since September.

It made the headlines cause it doesn't happen very often.

It made the headlines because they caught the guy. The crime itself definitely happens often. It happened twice, within the span of a year, to my own eight year old daughter. Yes, this exact same thing! A guy on a bike rode past and grabbed her. And I get similar such "incident alert" types of emails from the local elementary school at several times in a school year. This never made headline news though. It may have if they had a perp to walk past the cameras.

Why was the former charge dropped. These creeps don't stop.

Unfortunately, not a day goes by when this sort of crime doesn't occur in Japan (or anywhere else for that matter), which makes me wonder why this particular incident made the headlines.

What an idiot!

If he was already arrested and released just a few weeks, this guy is sick and needs be off the streets pronto

The police pressure female victims of these guys to drop the charges; less work for them to do. The females themselves have been raised their entire lives in a culture where men have the right to do pretty much what they want to females. For most Japanese men, females are just playthings. Hence this type of thing just continues unchecked. And always will....

The charge was dropped because he admitted to the crime according to the news.

Charges could also be dropped if the victim doesn't want to recount the embarrassing incident in front of a courtroom full of strangers. Prosecutors will test the victim's resolve to testify because they don't want to get to trial only to have the victim refuse to take the stand.

Iam all in favour of self defence classes, Judo, Karate, to name a few, if these hentai muppets are about at least they might get a swift kick in the ** it might give them something to think about next time, hopefully there won't be a next time. why should they have a free for all approach on children?

How dumb is that? So if I kill someone, but then admit to it, the charges would be dropped?

Cut his nuts off! That'll stop him reoffending!

@Sensato It made the headlines cause it doesn't happen very often.

Not because journalists have nothing better to write about.
