Man arrested for molesting woman on Yokohama street

A 32-year-old man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of molesting a 21-year-old woman as she walked home from work in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 12:10 a.m. on Sunday. Fuji TV reported that the suspect, identified as Yuichiro Higuchi, a Tokyo metropolitan subway train driver, came up behind the woman who was walking along the sidewalk, hugged her and then put his hand up her dress.

The woman, who is a student at a vocational school, was on her way home after finishing her part-time job.

Higuchi has admitted to the charge of indecent assault and was quoted by police as saying he was drunk at the time and said he couldn't help himself when he saw the "good-looking woman" get off the train, and started to follow her.

"A 32-year-old man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of molesting a 21-year-old woman as she walked home from work in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture? .....

Higuchi has admitted to the charge of indecent assault and was quoted by police as saying he was drunk at the time and said he couldn’t help himself when he saw the “good-looking woman” get off the train, and started to follow her?"

I could really understand what he was trying to say after he was arrested. I guess he was interested into her then he started to stalk her before molesting her. It's been a lot of times, I've seen this happened in news. Well, I knew that they are a lot of cute girls & young women anywhere out there in Japan so whatever it was, please stay safe when you're going alone anywhere, ladies!

Well done to the woman for reporting it!!

She's a strong woman reporting to the police. The underreporting of sexual assaults in Japan is common. I read about how poorly rape or sexual assault was reported, between officers shrugging off women’s complaints to family’s desire to hide the shame of rather than come out and convict a criminal

Does this excuse still work?

Does this excuse still work?

It never did. It's an explanation, not an excuse.

What a silly bunt! Doesn't he know that sort of thing is supposed to happen on the train?

This simp thrives in safety Japan.

"Higuchi arrested for molesting woman on Yokohama street" Poor bloke should have went to Kabukicho, a lady-boy would have completely satisfied his wishes.

I am so tired of this sorry excuse of "I was drunk and couldn't help myself." If you become a pig who can't help but commit crimes when you drink, then you shouldn't be drinking.

It's not an excuse. An excuse is something that removes your need to receive any punishment for your actions. Being drunk and not helping one's self is an explanation of what happened, as there is no expectation on either side that punishment will not be exacted with this as a reason.

Oh, c'mon! Where's the sympathy for this poor guy? He was drunk and obviously sexually frustrated, but everybody is calling him a loser. But, strangling your kids gets sympathy, right?

Um, might I suggest the next time you see a pretty girl that you smile at her, say something nice and then introduce yourself. Maybe tell her that you would like to get to know her because she seems like a nice person and offer her your business card. Oh, but of course, do it sober. Hugging and going up her dress comes after you have known each other for a while and she knows what is going on and wants you to. Got things completely backwards. What do you expect her to say, "Oh dear. Nobody drunk has ever come on to me this way before. I like it. Your house or mine? What an idiot.

@Kurobune

Once again, Kanagawa-ken !

What are you talking about? That happens all over the country! In fact, all over the world!

It's another person that somehow thinks that the number of news stories they have read somehow is representative of actual numbers.

@Strangerland. I guess so. As if molestation is endemic to Kanagawa.

Disillusioned is right. Murder your kids, get sympathy and understanding. Grope a young woman and it's lock him up and throw away the key.

Exactly right and well pointed out.

I don't know what planet the pity party people are living on but I sure as heck don't want to go there...

I looked at the date, ages and time of the incident and knew that alcohol was involved. And that excuse was in tow "I was drunk...."

This woman did a good job telling and filing a case about her incident. A lot of sexual harassment cases are just ignored because women are too shy to come out and speak. I know it's hard to speak about it, but if we don't do anything, things like this would not stop and more people will be victimized by this.

Lesson is don't drink too much, know how much you can handle..
