Man arrested for murdering father, kidnapping 7-year-old girl

Police said Tuesday they have arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of killing his father before kidnapping and imprisoning a 7-year-old girl in Nagoya.

According to police, the man, who has been named as Makoto Mizushima, is suspected of taking the girl back to his Nagoya apartment and confining her inside. It is believed he approached the girl as she left her home to go to school on Monday morning, Fuji TV reported.

Upon hearing that their daughter had not made it to school and had not attended the school opening ceremony, the girl's parents alerted the authorities.

A police investigation was launched and a search of the apartment block carried out, during which police discovered the girl in Mizushima's living room next to a body believed to be that of Mizushima's father. Police say the girl was unharmed, Fuji reported.

Mizushima was quoted by police as saying he killed his father. According to police, injuries found on the body were consistent with those sustained during death by strangulation.

I really hope the girl did not see the murder scene.

Fail to understand the reason to kidnap the young girl and taking her to his apartment, seems like the society is getting sicker by the day and they are trying to outdo each other each day.

What is the correlation, if any, between the two crimes??? Did he kidnap the girl and got in a fight with the father? Any chance the father kidnapped the girl and the son tried to rescue??? So many questions and so few follow ups to stories like this!!!

Nutjob

What happened did the father wanted to stop his son from harming the girl?

Obviously a mental case. I am glad the J-cops did theiy job this time.

No reason given as to why he kidnapped the girl? I don't care about him killing his father. It is a daily accurance in Japan, but the fact he kidnapped the little girl is more alarming.

It said on the news that the young man had an "interest" in young girls, which is why he kidnapped her. He later stated that he thought his father would be "in the way", so he bumped him off for good measure. What is society coming to?

Hang this idiot fool! Poor father!

Many posters seem to have missed the order, first killed Dad, then got girl.

"upon a search of the apartment block, they found her in the guy's living room"

I want to know more, the cops forced their way in? had a warrant? don't need a warrant in jpn? were invited in by the guy who is just so deranged he doesn't even know he would be caught? got a tip from a neighbor?

Where's this guy's mom? etc.

Glad the school was on the ball & she was found quickly. And people still let their little kids walk to school alone. My friend's 8 year old lives farthest of her walking group from the school & won't even "let" mum walk her to where she meets the next couple of kids on the route. Mum says it would be "hazukashii" for the kid. Sigh.

Zenkan is right. . The suspect might have raped the girl. From what i know,if rape is committed in a crime, involving a Japanese girl/woman,any news article/program in Japan will not disclose to the public that the victim was raped, for what reason,i am not sure.

This guy needs to sit in a very dark place for the rest of his life.

As for the girl, glad to read she is okay.

This is just disturbing on so many levels.

According to the news, the father was killed for trying to protect his daughter. The man who abducted her admitted that he had a sexual interest in young girls and the police found materials in the apartment to corroborate that claim.

I just can't fathom how horrible this girl's life could turn out as a result of these events. It's very likely that the father was killed in front of her. It's also very likely that had the police not discovered her, she would have been next. To see one's parent murdered for trying to protect you. Just horrifying.

Wanting to know more is one thing. Wanting to know more with this particular line of reasoning is entirely another. Why the fascination with whether search warrants were present or if they were even necessary in the search for a missing child?

LFRA again:

What?? The girl was the perps sister??? In that case, why would he need to abduct her? What news are you watching?
