What was the point he was trying to make?

I witnessed a convoy of 80s 90s boy racer cars in the mountains they were escorted by 7 police cars. Is there a law against a car club moving as a group without police supervision? The story doesn’t tell the whole story here. 200 that’s a lot of people who are of a like mind. Why did they do this?, and why the police reaction.

Friggin' hate bosozoku. I started to throw rocks at them when they passed through our neighborhood, and they stopped coming (though I can hear them in the distance).

I don't know about this particular group, but the bosozoku usually block the entire street, drive slowly while aggressively slaloming, and rev their engines to make as much noise as possible.

There are motorcycle enthusiasts who ride in groups (including myself), these are a totally different story, they are most courteous and polite drives. They do race sometimes on mountain roads though

Not a cop in sight more than likely. Probably arrested days later him while he was pouring concrete at the genba. These incidents happen with regularity especially on Saturdays and Sundays on that road and there's almost never a cop around. Suspended sentence at best with maybe a "stern warning" like this: You can participate but don't be the organizer.

I was involved in a procession of a hundred or so motorbikes and cars for a friend's wedding ( the bride, groom and guests were all acquainted with a Harley chop-shop) in Saitama long ago. The police were informed, and permits issued so that, with the cop's assistance at intersections, we could ride in double file and create the least amount of congestion possible along our route. It was noisy, to be sure, but it went smoothly and all concerned were respectful. So with the right attitude and forethought, a mass rally needn't be an unlawful.

The above story doesn't mention bousozoku style antics at all, so what indeed was the fuss?

The article says there were no disturbances or problems during this event so I’m pretty sure no Bosozoku there. Bozos (sic) are a fading trend not like they were 20/30 years ago. It looks more like a social media post was reacted too by many more people then expected. Not something arrest is warranted over.

IMO: The nabs are strong to come out for minuscule crimes, old cold cases public assistance, or homicide related. Crime prevention IMO is a minuscule priority for them.

I've been on Easy Riders torus in the past. No one ever complained about the 300 Plus bikes riding down the expressways/towns.

Sounds like they need to organize with an anonymous account. Then everybody can "just show up" and participate, crime-free.

Can you imagine the noise from 200 Bosozoku? I counted 50 passing by at the beach once and that was enough for me.

On which ground were they arrested?

As long as they do not commit any offense, I do not understand why.

Me and my friends (only 15 or so and all Supra owners) get together on an occasional weekend, but never seems to get into any trouble. We try our best to drive with courtesy "most of the time".

What a distorted mentality. That was only an easy target for a better bosozoku statistics. If the bikers and motorists would have been some smarter and declared it a Hiroshima, Fukushima, Kumamoto, Atami support or commemorating rally or something like that, eventually with some little festivity for the locals at the start and end point, the same whole thing , exactly the same loudness, nuisance and road rules violations, would have went through uncomplained and even be celebrated in nationwide news. lol

I'm guessing that the police might have profiled these people as bosozoku. But if they're not, I don't see why they would get in trouble for gathering if they're not doing anything bad like noise disturbance, road blocking, littering, etc - aside from the whole pandemic social distancing thing too, of course. Just an unpopular opinion, I think bosozoku are cool so long as they're not disturbing anyone.

So, if I drive along the road with some of my friends in several different cars that mean I am liable for arrest? Does it mean that the police will monitor me and follow me?

I'm a member of a Fairlady Z group that does regular meets and runs. In October last year, we had a meet in South-West Japan, with approximately 130 Z's of various genres. No police, no laws broken, no problems. Was this guy well-known to police already?

Tired of these "bikers" at night. Who are they supposed to be impressing? Their little boyfriends? Get a life or a girlfriend.
