Police in Fussa, Tokyo, said Monday they have arrested a 39-year-old man for destruction of property after he confessed to pouring ink, ketchup and sauces into Japan Post mailboxes.
Police said the suspect, identified as Satoshi Ayukawa, a hospital employee, told them he poured the liquids into at least 13 mailboxes because it helped him forget his stress at work, NTV reported. Police said Ayukawa has admitted pouring liquid into the mailboxes on at least 30 occasions since April.
Police said Ayukawa was identified through street surveillance camera footage.
Japan Post said 845 letters and postcards were affected by the liquids, but said they were still able to deliver them all.

Props to Japan Post for delivering regardless!

This excuse is as childish as his actions.

Let's hope there is a rubber room for this loon and he is not just slapped on the wrist and set free.

"Stress at work"...I guess this replaces the way overused "I was drunk and don't remember a thing" excuse.

That's really weird. It's like something naughty elementary school kids might do.

Men in Japan get adult very late... And this is not destruction at all: this is a teenager joke.
In France, for fun, kids would:
put fireworks in your mailbox make tags that you cannot remove on your freshly painted nice and neat walls Send garbage to your garden ...No one was ever killed due to that. Just life learners. Never heard of adult doing that though.

I saw one on a bicycle the other day actually barking at people he passed, the poor fellow looked to be in his late 50's. I was little scared as I watched him bark, especially with all these incidents involving "loophole drugs" in Japan.

I guess "stress at work" is the new excuse
