Punch and he did not kill his own son? Alcohol ... why do people drink if they forget who they are. Saw it growing up ... maybe it is why I do not. This headline is outrageous. Can we all line up and punch this guy?

Punching a 2-year old in the face..... that is attempted murder in my book.

it's so sad to read about these cases. We all need some more love and honest effort to improve ourselves and make things work. The father needs to realize what a precious gift he has been blessed with and find other ways than alcohol and violence as outlets for his stress. It's not too late for him or for the boy. Where there is a will, there is a way.

I hope the japanese social services will step in and make some kind of action plan. I have no idea how family social work is laid out in Japan. I am a social worker myself and have worked in youth department where we would get cases similar to these. First there would need to be a quick estimation of whether its safe or not for the child to be at home, and then estimate what kind of support the parents could need. In the case of the father maybe an anger management course, or learning how to be a better parent. Hope things turn out well for the kid.

Tomorrow he will be back to his office as he came home drunk and has said he doesn’t remember doing anything to his son.

If the mother truly cares about the boy, she should have nipped the problem in the bud from the start.

As somebody else mentioned, the mother was probably being physically abused too... Probably made it difficult to report until "someone else" (the paramedics) reported it "for her" to the police.

The cops should have let him "trip" in the stairs as they took him away.

The boy is only 2 years old so the "past" is basically within 2 years. If the mother truly cares about the boy, she should have nipped the problem in the bud from the start. Divorce is the only thing that can solve this problem because a man who punches a 2 year old is worthless scum.

What a piece of trash he is! Glad the mother reported him, but it seems she had been l eating him get away with it for a while before she took action. I'm also sure he was abusing her as well this was why she never made a complaint before.

A simple Google search shows that child abuse cases here in Japan are at an all time high. well he used the classic "I was drunk and do not remember a thing" line. He will probably apologize officially, and will be sent back home. I hope I'm wrong, but I've read far too many tragic stories already here.
