Police in Sapporo have arrested a 53-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of assaulting his wife by punching her in the face in a restaurant.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at a family restaurant in Kita Ward. Hokkaido Broadcasting Corp reported that the man and his wife, who is in her 50s, were part of a group who had come to the restaurant for lunch.

Restaurant staff told police that the man had been drinking heavily before the incident. An employee called police after seeing him hit his wife.

Police quoted the man as saying he can’t remember whether he hit his wife or not. The suspect, who wasn’t named, has a history of domestic violence against his wife, police added.

If the police knew he had a history of beating his wife, why wasn't he in jail? This could have been prevented!

Jenni: All that data was base on Police reports involving domestic violence. Then analyse by scientist chasing government funding. Bias by police and bias by the scientist should also can't be considered when evaluating this report.

If you’re high on pot sure get home before you go of tangent which offen to stoners but there never be a report where the main contributor to domestic violence was pot. Don’t happen.

That's not what this study found:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5663469/

"Findings demonstrated that marijuana use was positively and significantly associated with psychological, physical, and sexual IPV perpetration, even after controlling for alcohol use and problems, antisocial personality symptoms, and relationship satisfaction."

3:30 PM on a Thursday...........I guess NO ONE had work that day.

SO there was a group of people there, and it was a public place. OK

Police quoted the man as saying he can’t remember whether he hit his wife or not.

So you are telling me, there is no video of this?

(everyone has a smart phone, and the restaurant must have security cameras around....)

And he "can't remember.....alright

The suspect, who wasn’t named, has a history of domestic violence against his wife, police added.

And why is he roaming the streets freely again? And why is the woman still his wife?

Does common sense and logic not exist anymore?

Northernlife: Alcohol is the biggest cause of deaths on road and the biggest cause of domestic violence. Both proven facts. Do go home to the family effected by any amount of alcohol. Sleep it off or if a little effect wait a few hours before going home to the family. If you’re high on pot sure get home before you go of tangent which offen to stoners but there never be a report where the main contributor to domestic violence was pot. Don’t happen.

quote A man who hits women is a coward, usually he will never fight with an equal opponent.

what a load of crap. There are some tiny very puny guys and some big women who out there who can take care of themselves. Your attitude is so dated it’s laughable

I agree with you samurai!

I can tell you some funny stories about people I know that fit the descriptions above quite well!

But in all fairness to Pomeranian he never mentioned anything about the size of a woman beater- and I personally do believe that a wife beater is a coward

Drinking a lot is not good. A little is fine, but to get too drunk in public and with your wife is not what a real man does.

Unemployed, alcoholic, and violent.

Publish his mug shot and name in the papers so everyone knows about the wife-beater in their neighborhood. What a disgusting PoS. I hope the wife divorces him and files a restraining order, or whatever the equivalent is in Japan, against him.

Sigh... the "I was drunk and don't recall" excuse used here all the time. He should get double just for that, and triple the charges and sentences since he has a history. Likewise, unless the woman in question declined to file charges, police should be reprimanded for allowing the guy close to her knowing his history of domestic violence. Seems like they just casually throw that out like his history is a given and no big deal. And we all know full well he won't see jail time for it, will likely be back with her in no time, and will repeat it. There's never any real action taken here until there's a corpse.

If you can't remember it means he did it.

Absolute loser. Drunk, violent, unemployed.

Aagh! The old "can't remember" defence. Hopefully this cretin will be finally locked away for his recitivism.

So he throw a punch to a woman and then he denies it?

What a wanker, hopefully she dump him.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

@mammamia

He already served his punishments and / or he didn’t recover a custodial sentence?

The wife should leave him immediately, he is a real P.O.S.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Lock the coward up. Hoping he loses everything - family, job and possessions.

Media should name him so his community and acquaintances all know he bashes women.

Things have most certainly taken a turn for the worse here. Whereas once it was every other week, we’re now hearing stories of wanton cruelty and base stupidity on a daily, nay multiple times daily basis. Right now, someone, somewhere, is up to no good; doing their level best to remove any remaining doubts.

Divorce this trash as soon as you can ma'am.
