What a creep! Glad he’s going back to prison. However, what is wrong with this junior high school girl? Common sense just flew out the window for 500 bucks. She’s lucky she’s not dead. The issue of his responsibility is black and white. He is 100% responsible for his actions and should be punished accordingly.

The issue of her responsibility is more nuanced, being a minor. While she is not yet mature enough to hold adult like responsibility, she is definitely old enough to know to never put herself in situations like that. Surely her parents and school teachers have warned her and her classmates of the dangers of meeting up with strange men via SNS, especially for things like modelling in underwear for money.

This is not 'victim blaming'. It is common sense parenting and mentoring for her elders to caution her like that, to expect her to take heed, and to discipline her with a healthy dose of tough love if she doesn't.

Both the girl and the rapist have responsibility in this situation. He is wrong for luring females and forcing them against their will to have sex. She is wrong for engaging in illegal acts. They both were attempting to commit a crime. His crime is just more heinous!

Remember: She agreed to meet at hotel with a stranger to take erotic photos. She already had 50,000 yen in her bag. Unless it was given to her by family or employer (too young!), she has probably engaged in this behavior in the past. She also deserved to be punished, but it shouldn't be rape!

It is an unfortunate and serious learning experience for this young girl. Hopefully, it won't ruining the rest of life.

If calling her stupid for agreeing to meet a man at a love hotel for paid erotic photo session is victim blaming, then I'm a victim blamer. Cash is obvious not a problem for her (parents provide, or maybe the 51,000yen was from another photo session earlier in the day).

I agree, and don't think any poster here is excusing him. And her lack of common sense/naughty behavior does not in any way excuse him. But she is still responsible for her own part of the problem. Unless she is mentally disabled, she is definitely old enough to know that she was doing something wrong and dangerous.

Totally right. However, they can help avoid trouble by not deliberately putting themselves in high risk situations.

If there is to be an offender registry, it should be all crimes (murder, rape, burglary, etc). Why focus on just one? Repeat offenders exist in every category...and murder you can't get over...cuz you're dead.
